If your media stack is containerized with docker (no idea how you installed it), you need to go into your docker compose file and grant the container access to your drive.

Technology@lemmy.world•DLSS 5 comes with a massive 50-60% performance hit, so I hope you like lower frame rates with your dose of AI image enhancementEnglish
9·15 days agoDlss was originally an anti aliasing technique (its in the name) so it has originally been a performance hit. It was casual change and marketing that decided that upscaling from a lower resolution was the norm.
DLDSR is essentially what DLSS 1.0 was
If youre upscaling from a lower resolution, thats no longer the SS in DLSS (super sampling)

Technology@lemmy.world•So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafeEnglish
92·20 days agoafaik supposedly it was because a large chunk of the bot network went through the old.reddit portal over the standard reddit portal.
also if it sounds like its too good to be true, the biggest flaw the device has is that its idle power usage is high, so its a device you definitely want to shut off after youre done playing.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Epic CEO Tim Sweeney Criticizes Steam's AI Disclosure Requirement, Calls It "Irresponsible"English
15·3 months agoits irresponsible to devs. what tim Sweeney wants is that all devs simultaneously get tired of the shit and leave steam. Epic knows it will never win consumers over so its trying all of its powers to win a majority of devs over.
epic vs steam is ultimately a debate of dev vs consumer. steam is the weird option in the market, because consumer led monopolies are rare.

51·3 months agoit usually depends on context of how the computer is being used, but usually speaking, the major OS companies invalidate older hardware.
intels 7700k(2017) and older are invalidated for W11 usage and W10 is on life support now for security. Apple is approaching the time period where its about to sunset intel based macbook/mac mini/imac/mac pro support.
in the context of mainstream general computers, 12 years is a LONG time. its also around the cutoff for whats worth selling vs whats worth recycling at my workplace.
so is fresh mozzarella not cheese because it has double the moisture content than cheddar and notibly more compared to the non fresh mozzarella? same could be said with various forms of cottage cheese.

7·3 months agobarebones means youre on your own to procure ram and storage (though theyd pay for gpu ram) it gives value to people who already have the ram/atorage in hand and price the devices minus the ram/storage cost as if it were before memory prices skyrocketed (minus gpu ram) as the cost of the rest of the components wouldnt have had the same price hike

Ed Sheeran has tour, one of the openers is Macklemore. Macklemore makes pro-palestinian comment.
Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots NFL team, and its stadium, Gillete, made an ultimatum and coerced the other venues to join him to remove Macklemore from the tour.
Given the choice, Ed Sheeran dropped Macklemore, and at a later time, several of his other openers have dropped from the tour. Pink is one of the artists to chose to stick around.
Sheeran is claiming neutral, but when the two options presented are kick macklemore out to use the stadium, or keep macklemore, you cannot be considered apolical if you choose either. He chose the first, therefore is political, even if he doesnt necessarily agree with it.
