Having recently seen the first trilogy among Nolan’s works, I wonder what opinions you hold about the movies in general. Seeing that I’m quite late to the party, I expect some strong and mature takes in the comments, but you are still free to voice any opinion you may have.
I thought they were good, but Heath Ledger’s Joker was overrated. I mean, he’s fine but I didn’t think he was amazing which seems to be the general consensus. I don’t think he would have won the Oscar if he hadn’t died.

I’m not saying he was bad, he was as good as the rest of the movie and if one saw the movie at the right age I can see how he would be the definitive Joker, but he just didn’t do anything special for me.
Is this how I get to know Heath Ledger died? His acting was great nonetheless and I would’ve loved to watch him in future movies. I feel bad now ;(

It’s a shame if you got it from this comment because in my opinion, in the context of the time when the film was released, and with the history of portrayals of The Joker at that time, Ledger absolutely would have been in serious contention for a supporting actor Oscar.
He… was in serious contention for the Supporting Actor Oscar. Serious enough that he won it. Posthumously of course, but he still won.
I kind of wish we could have seen what we’d have had in terms of movies if we hadn’t had the drug/alcohol deaths and suicides from famous actors over the years.
