  • Also, please don’t link to Facebook. Lemmings don’t like tracking cookies. You know how it is. Downloading the video with yt-dlp and then uploading it to Lemmy really isn’t hard. See watch:

Also, before assuming a video is real, I would look at the watermark in the lower right corner, google it, and make sure it doesn’t belong to an artist whose gallery website is the first result.

That’s the most painfully obvious AI I’ve seen in a while.

The puddle grows onto the back of the chair after he stands up.

It starts to spread so much that it starts to drip onto the floor. What, is his piss supposed to have multiplied?

Her reaction doesn’t seem natural at all. Why does she keep screaming? Why does she stare at it? Why does she point at it and not look away? Why does her face look like she’s screaming in anger? (I’ll tell you: because AI only knows how to generate one kind of screaming face.) Besides, fucking listen to that scream. The weird strangulated gurgle in the middle of it. That’s not a human running out of breath, that’s an AI voice generator glitching out because there aren’t any examples of screams that long in its training data.

Lastly, this is obviously fake because everyone knows Trump wears Depends.*

Did you genuinely think this was real, or are we just supposed to be entertained by it? If the latter, what made you think Lemmy would appreciate a slop video?

    * - I don’t know this for a fact, but nearly all 80 year olds do, and it’s funny to make fun of him for.

  • I’d really like to see a source for the first guy’s numbers, especially how he accounts for things like training and water usage at the power plant, and as for the second guy, Anthropic is not preserving shit. The Internet Archive preserves books. Anthropic scans them and doesn’t publish the scans so that they can train an LLM that might or might not be able to regurgitate some fragments of that text, and publish that. That’s preservation in the same way that painting a picture of you is keeping you alive forever.

Also, neither of those address the effects on creatives’ livelihoods or the mental health of LLM users. Chatbot psychosis is real. People who routinely use LLMs to do things provably become worse at doing them without them. Students use LLMs to make an end run around having to learn everything they need to know to be effective members of a society, like how to articulate their points, how not to fall for rhetorical traps, what history was really like, and between that and the disastrous effects of No Child Left Behind, teachers are quitting in droves and there’s a literacy crisis.

  • The author of that article admits that the sample size is not large enough to draw meaningful conclusions.

But besides that, I believe LLM code generators can be a useful tool, provided you are willing to go over their output with a fine-tooth comb and assume it is broken until you have proven otherwise, because the hallucination problem is inherent to the technology and they’re never going to completely solve it, and are willing to overlook the myriad ethical issues with all major LLMs in existence today.

  • When I was first learning about sexual vocabulary, my autistic mind always found it a bit strange that putting a tiny part of yourself, maybe six inches long, into a hole belonging to another person, and then pushing it in and out really fast, meant that you, the whole person, were inside that other person. Surely it would be more accurate to say your dick was inside them – and even then, if you’re thrusting, even that is only true half the time.

I recognize the necessity of that euphemism, because “I’ve been inside her” sounds a lot less graphic than “My dick has been inside her pussy”, but I still found it odd.

When someone swallows you whole, you are inside them, no ifs, ands, or buts. Every part of your body is contained within theirs. They can see you in there, rub the you-shaped bulge in their tummy. They can purr, their sounds of happiness completely surrounding you and making your whole body vibrate. The feeling – especially combined with knowing you made them happy – would turn a massage chair green with envy. You hear their voice resonate through their body as they ask you if you’re okay in there, remind you how much you mean to them. You think about how anything that wants to hurt you will have to get past their claws, and then through their hide (or perhaps their shiny, impenetrable scales). There’s nowhere in the world you feel safer. You smile, and close your eyes. You’ve had a long day.

And what’s more, you can see them on the inside. Most people, when they say someone is “just as beautiful on the inside”, they mean it metaphorically, talking about the person’s heart and mind, how smart or kind they are. When I say someone is just as beautiful on the inside, I might mean those things too – and I often do – but I also mean it literally. I’ve seen them on the inside. The part that Mother Nature didn’t bother making look pretty because She thought no one would see it. And they’re beautiful there, too.
