They never said it did. Only that a laptop with encrypted drives is where secure boot makes sense. The OS can be as secure as it wants but if the drive isnt encrypted it can be accessed.

2·9 days agoThats fine. We just ignore Omarcy and hold our upstream projects to account if they start trying to implement omacy features.

1710·10 days agoI dont like Omarcy and DHH but its pretty obvious why hes getting the funding and not other projects. The reason this gets funded and stuff like Gnome and KDE doesnt is because DHH has influence, he isnt a foss purist and he has no bureaucracy holding him back.
No one cares when KDE makes a post trying to drive linux adoption. When DHH does it drives thousands of new linux users. DHH alone can market the distro to new people in a way most foss projects cant.
When a company tries to partner with another project not only do they get very little exposure because the community is small and resistant to advertising but they also often get attacked and purity tested by the users and it generates bad press. When DHH partners with a company his users think its cool and try out the product. It doesnt matter how scummy the company is or if its closed source subscription only.
Investors also see Omachy as something where changes can be made without needing 4 years of arguing with one guy rejecting every change. A fast moving tech focused platform with a good marketer could pull people out of the microsoft apple ecosystem to a place where products can freely compete without entrenched platforms stealing their idea and making their version the default

Nah just be a normal person and explain the situation. Its not worth the battle. Life is mundane the cops arent going to arrest you for having tin foil on the windows

4·25 days agoIts intended behavior from Debian team. because they ships a version of the software at the time and only backport security patches. So if the version they ship has bugs then those bugs stay for years. This generates quite a bit of noise for upstream projects but it is what it is.

1·3 months agoThis is the highlight from your link. The evidence just isnt there to support these claims about LFN maybe it will be one day but at the moment its not.

If it were the case that this LFN was harmful we wouldnt be looking at datacenters for the major sources of this kind of noise.

Sure it can have a bearing on quality amoung many other factors that can have a bearing on quality. I dont need to judge all those factors I can judge the end result.
The cat is out of the bag. AI is common place in coding. I dont see why it matters if it was developed with AI or includes AI. Its the same product with/without.

thats reasonable no?
