Anthropic IPO?

BBC posted an article today that’s literally just quoting an OpenAI blog post about how dangerous AI is.

Yeah, also not aware of any united kingdoms, there are other kingdoms though. I guess people know what it is at this point

While here in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, we apparently shortened it to just the type of government, like we’re the only kingdom or something.

I did a bunch around me with street complete until it started asking the width of the roads. Is that actually useful?

I started filling in all the house names because nothing here is numbered. It hasn’t improved delivery drivers finding us 🤣

I’ve been waiting for all the new software that is going to displace the expensive incumbents.

Pretty much every industry has specialist software that is really expensive so there’s plenty of choices for a competitor to make.

First (and last) time I ever used a QR code on the table. We walked in, sat ourselves at an empty table. No sign of any staff. Ordered ourselves via their QR code. It was self service drinks even. Literally the only thing the server did was carry a couple plates from the kitchen to our table then we never saw them again.

The order required prepayment and added 15% tip by default.

The difference is the others don’t require a tropical environment to grow. So you can grow them without any deforestation.

I use this, works great. Have it on a server that is publicly accessible and has access to immich. I have it on a VPS which connects to my LAN over VPN. In immich you can configure a public domain for sharing where you put the proxy domain.

Then just share as normal and the url immich gives is the proxy.

The UI you get is very basic but functional.

Universal healthcare doesn’t mean you can’t pay for private healthcare. The UK has both. Jobs can often come with health insurance. It’s typically much cheaper as well because it doesn’t cover emergency services.

A better example for me is driving, we don’t let children drive, millions of children have access to cars, there’s no age gate on the ignition.

Ultimately its the parents that stop kids driving.

Ban kids from using it. Then treat it like a public health problem and educate everybody on the problems, how to identify misinformation, keep themselves safe etc. And require the companies to provide the tools parents can use to protect their own kids. Parental controls exist but i feel they aren’t widely used because it’s difficult and complicated.

I’d go further and start regulating the use of algorithmic feeds for everybody but that’s probably harder to achieve.

It’s been truly terrible. When i first tried it, you didn’t get a tooltip showing the actual URL of links before you click them, you know, the thing literally every mandatory phishing training I’ve had to do for the past 20 years.

My understanding is that evaporative cooling is cheaper so it’s not a closed system. Constantly use new fresh, cold water and you don’t need something to cool down the hot water. Just dump it and let it evaporate or whatever.

Also when a human takes remote control, does that person have a driving licence valid in the place they are driving. Because last i heard they were in Indonesia or something. Presumably a taxi drivers licence as they are carrying passing passengers.

Immich to one server, syncthing to another. Both servers backed up with restic to hetzner storage box.
