Ooh, skateboard grandpa. That’s a vibe, I dig it.
(Yes, I know 50 isn’t really a grandpa. Zaddy, maybe?)

Oh yeah. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, I guess. Lol.

At least you know better now.
I sometimes wonder what percentage of r/fatpeoplehate has since gotten fat, and what percentage of that percentage still isn’t sorry.

Some of the teachers said “go to college and get a job like ours”, some said trades are a good idea. The one guy was like “you’ll move through tens of careers and IT WILL BE GREAT!”. But, at no point was flexibility encouraged. It was “find your calling and pursue it ruthlessly”. I wasn’t sure what to major in going out of high school, because lots of stuff is cool, and they thought that was the worst thing ever.

Yea. I still seriously believe that over half of people are “fundamentally” “good” and that they just make mistakes etc.
Just make sure you’re applying the same standards to everyone. Without knowing what the scare quotes mean, there’s nothing to argue with, but so so many people have blind spots. Which is part of the problem.

Oh god. I was warned people are generally dicks, and believed it, but my goodness I though it was like, out of carelessness or something. Not that people are just fundamentally disinterested in more than the appearance of morality.

Did you expect to live to see robots replace a lot of stuff? It’s hard to imagine you never thought about it, if that was your background.

Interesting. Was it lifestyle creep, or did you start a family or something?

How badly everything has gone.
The hair loss would be news, but I wouldn’t really be surprised. I knew it happens.

Going for the high score in serial monogamy.

Well, who’s us, and who’s them, in that paragraph? Does a congressman count as them? What about a senator, or an ordinary local Republican? There isn’t actually any distinction.
The truth is evil is banal, and like always in these parts of history, it’s a movement through all stratums of society. The big ones would never have captured that government power without help from the little ones. So yes, it’s probably not your fault, but it’s not really just Trumps fault, either.

Even people who’ve never done it are vaguely aware of blacksmithing, though, right? This seems like more of a failure to apply everyday material properties to a skyscraper.

Plus aluminum, which planes are made of, does burn hot enough to melt steel beams. And concrete weakens in a fire as well.

Which, going right back around to jet engines, is why superalloys are a thing.
They aren’t stronger or even more refractory than normal steel, just more expensive, but they don’t soften at all until they’re about to melt.

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to be the main expense for airlines.
Edit: Oh, that’s literally just takeoff.

Of all the media out there, action movies might be the worst for rotting brains. People can actually seperate porn or cartoons from reality.

Just like how their government works, or what climate change is.
Like, people aren’t actually dumb, but 1% of their attention on anything that they aren’t paid to do can sure give that appearance.

No. I’d guess a lot of people who don’t work with it think diesel blows up, even.
What the basic kinds of petroleum are, and which vehicles they go in, is one of those things any reasonably educated person should know, but the majority of the population actually won’t.

Mandatory “sounds like they’re just feeding dogs to the local snakes” meme.
Airlines are going bankrupt all over the place, though, so it’s not like they’re making massive margins. Basically, people just prefer a shitty seat on a cheap flight.
