If my KSP rockets are anything to go by, “staging” is when you hit the spacebar and everything goes off at once because you forgot to put things in separate stages.

258·5 days agoIf they were actually wrong about anything, LG would be suing the pants off them right now.
Instead LG are “debunking” claims that weren’t actually made.

48·6 days agoIf we take for granted that Sony truly believed no “reasonable person” would expect to own digital purchases, then surely continuing to use terms like “purchase” and “own” despite this is an attempt to mislead people?

6·8 days agoMaybe it helps if you have a gigantic stack of containers, but I’ve honestly never seen the point of Portainer when I can just look at my compose file.

17·11 days agoWhile I agree that this sounds like all the drawbacks of an ereader with none of the bonuses of a phone, I think compartmentalisation is a pretty big factor. If the back of your phone is for reading, some people will be less likely to get distracted while their phone is flipped over - even though they’re literally holding the likely source of their distraction.
Edit: I feel stupid, but it occurs to me that you don’t have to have it attached to the back of your phone. I’m actually considering getting one now…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy?English
5·16 days agoI thought all of them were excellent, though admittedly I only saw Rises the one time in the theatre. The Dark Knight stands out above the other two, though.
I’m not a Batman or comic fan, which could explain my taste. In fact, a group of friends and I tried watching the 1989 one with no nostalgia and we all agreed to turn it off halfway through.
I bought 32GB of DDR4 RAM for cheap (even for the time) just before the prices really started skyrocketing. They only had a few extras in stock and I strongly considered buying them out and trying to resell them. If I’d done so I could probably retire by now.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Linus Torvalds used AI to fix a Linux bug, and now LLM critics on Linux face an uncomfortable choiceEnglish
9·17 days agoSince Linus spends most of his time reviewing changes to the code in the kernel, he’s probably one of the few people I’d trust to have properly vetted any AI code he used.
That being said, since you have no idea what code was scraped to generate the fix, it seems to me that it might not be able to be licensed under the GPL, though I’m no lawyer.

49·18 days agoWhy do they use terms like “Buy”, and “Purchase”, then?
That’s why the unit circle definitions of trig functions are better. “The y coordinate of the point on a unit circle 90 degrees anticlockwise from the positive x-axis” makes a lot more sense than “The ratio between the lengths of a line segment and… another identical line segment in exactly the same place”.

I can’t speak to other religions, but I’m pretty sure there’s a passage in the bible that says that (paraphrasing) mankind has dominion over animals. Some clearly interpret this to mean “God says I can be as shitty as I want to animals”.
