You can use it without learning additional skills, but to truly know what’s going on with any operating system that requires higher knowledge. I’m including windows, mac, android, linux, etc in this. If we could fully understand technology by touching it tech support wouldn’t need to exist. Nor would the insane number of overpriced certifications.

I fully agree with you that humans are the culprit here. And you’re right, words do have meaning. So I’m going to point out you took an active action “stealing” to the passive voices “fed” and “invoked” and “trained.” Yet you never said humans “stole.” Because they did. They are thieves who are stealing and profiting on other people’s intellectual property. Even if other commenters can’t name why they are upset, that’s why. It’s the same thing that pisses people off when news articles do the same thing depending on which groups they are talking about. Without meaning to your language softens when you talked about the human actions for the exact same acts. It’s a bias. One I’m sure you’re not aware you’re doing. I’ve honestly noticed a lot of people doing it. We all need to work on recognizing when we are unnecessarily softening our language for any group in power. We need to call them out for the thieving shitheads that they are with bold language. “Billionaires are stealing art.” Because they fucking are.

Would you trust your instrument to be stored under the plane? I don’t have a problem with people bringing fragile items into the cabin. That doesn’t mean it’s his main character moment to pull it out and dazzle a (literally) captive audience.

Car shows. They happen all the time. Look for one for corvettes and go. The people who attend them love the cars and will either be willing to buy or know someone who is. If you aren’t sure where to find one look for classic car museums in your area or garages that specialize in classic car repair. Both may be able to direct you or may even know someone who would be interested in your car. Car people are chatty as fuck and it’s the kind of community that will happily tell you where to go or who to talk to.

This is the exact same stuff they fed us when I was in Iraq 20 year ago. They gave the contract to the lowest bidder who bought the cheapest food possible then pocketed the “leftover” cash. Same! I want to be able to find things in the dark or an emergency without having to think about it. I don’t care if other people in my group want to bring everything they own with them as long as they take responsibility for carrying it. I won’t carry other people’s gear without a damn good reason. As a woman that IS into that stuff I can tell you a lot of men SUCK at outdoor stuff. I don’t go with them because they are disorganized over packers who are just looking for a campsite maid/cook to manage the glamp post while they fish. I have a much nicer time when I go solo hiking with my dogs.

AND that’s the problem with “safety” tech. It doesn’t act as an assistant it acts as a nanny. A nanny that makes mistakes. Sometimes harmless, sometimes irritating, and sometimes dangerous. Each driver should be allowed to decide what level of assistance they need/want without being forced or shamed about it. If we can’t trust drivers to drive then maybe we shouldn’t have cars and should redirect resources to public transportation infrastructure instead. (Personally I’m very on board with the latter.)

Yes but never forget they aren’t above building profiles on people and selling them. The US government regularly buys these sort of data packages as a loophole to bypass constitutional protections against search and seizures.
