If you’re a licensed driver, you know how to drive. If people are being given licenses without properly making sure the licensee is both qualified and mentally capable to drive and know what responsibilities that entails, then we shouldn’t be letting them drive and that’s a failing on society.

At least where I’m from, unlicensed minors aren’t allowed to drive without a licensed adult present.

And if you don’t trust your unlicensed teenager to not steal your keys and go on a joyride, the I can’t help you because you need a professional family therapist to work through issues.

The point of language is to convey meaning. Grammar is less important than what the speaker wants to tell other people.

If this sentence, in context of a larger conversation, has meaning to the people listening to it, then congratulations! Rejoice, for communication has been achieved! Whether it was grammatically correct or not is irrelevant, because the intended target understands.

Language changes over time. Nobody just decided to come up with modern English one day and it caught on, it’s a gross pot filled with words and grammar from many other languages (some more melted than others, so not really a melting pot), and mostly filtered from a language nobody speaks anymore.

So having what are essentially arbitrary rules that dictate how things must always be for that language is already pretty dumb to me.

I have moved back in with parents, who are struggling to pay their own bills. It’s mutually beneficial, but goddamn does it make transitioning hard. I doubt they would kick me out since they’d lose the house when they can’t pay bills, but in the meantime I would need to find somewhere to put up a tent and hope I can store my stuff somewhere cheap.

Since my spouse got fired over a medical issue, and their health has since spiraled, we have been eating through our savings. “Luckily” I just started a second job today.

Sure would be great if you could survive on a single income as a family like people used to be able to do. We’d have to make billionaires extinct first(and even then it’d be a long road getting from here to there) and unless society does a 180, that’s not happening.
