There was a major effort by the government to dismantle functional far left political groups. The vacuum has been filled by a lot of people who are suspiciously unable to build a big tent and craft messages like they are designed to split communities rather than engage in effective change.

The DSA and Working Families Party seem to be building an effective political strategy to get shit done, but a lot of other groups seem to just want to argue and protest.

I think the Pentagon is looking for a fall guy for the attack and they know Palantir will take it. While the Obama administration still continued bombings and assassinations, the administration required approval to go through the White House rather than trust internal DoD procedures. This went away when Trump took office.

My guess is that the DoD didn’t have the procedures in place to figure this shit out but they now need someone to blame.

The issue with cultural appropriation previously was that those from the culture were denied opportunities to make money off their own culture. There are still some economic restrictions, but the political and cultural restrictions are mostly gone.

There were some cultural appropriation complaints when the chopped cheese got big for a hot minute, but it was widely sold in bodegas already so it didn’t have a single creator and a lot of people wanting to try it went to Harlem and the South Bronx to get it. More places started selling it, but it wasn’t like the original bodega owners were barred from being a part of the dish’s expansion. It was just really easy to make.

The only large oil consumer who is acting this strategically is China. They’ve been buying dips and building out massive strategic reserves. The Iran War oil crisis would have been a lot worse if China didn’t reduce its consumption significantly.

First, trucks have longer breaking distances which a lot of sensors aren’t designed for. Second, many trucks carry trailers which are provided by others, so sensors are likely not going to be attached.

You had a rise in conservative movements starting in the 1970’s as the post war economic boom stopped. The dismantling of various government services had short term benefits and long term costs. We’re at the point where these groups are trying to cling on as it is becoming more apparent that new government economic intervention is needed for most people. A lot of wealthy people don’t want to pay for this.

You also have new industries which formed and were very lightly regulated. Those who want to improve the economy also seem to want to institute effective regulation of these industries. Since typical conservatism has collapsed, the far right is being supported.

Yeah, there were two IT techs at one company who routinely asked for user passwords, in part because some of the software we used require setup in the user account. I’d say no, but I was on a few reply all emails where others provided their password to everyone on the email.

I guess the best thing that you can do is target something and give yourself options if your primary goal doesn’t work out. For instance, you seem to have a desire in urban site planning, which is something that a degree in civil engineering can help you get. You may be able to get into the field you want, or you can pivot to someone else in the industry. It is also common to use the degree in adjacent fields or even as a way to show you can deal with numbers without being scared.

I suspect that this will get addressed by implants being able to output video except to the brain. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens if only to airgap the sensor from being hacked.

The glasses are vilified as much by the use case. Google Glass was hated about just as much and the reason was because the user was recording video when people didn’t want to be recorded. People trusted that the video wasn’t going to Google, they just didn’t trust the users pointing a camera at all times.

I suspect optical implants will address this by never building in the ability to record.
