That stupid ass number is used as one of the identifying factors when financing anything. Yes, a house is bought and mortgaged with that number next to 2 other forms of ID lmao.

Wait until non Americans hear that our national social security ID number is only 4/9 digits worth of “random” numbers. (Fun fact, the entire number was procedurally generated based on where you were born and in what order at the hospital for generations until they changed it recently)
I’ve stuck to KDE because it’s more customizable and the devs don’t try to actively remove features from updates. Gnome might be a cleaner experience, but I don’t want to have to search for alternatives when my favorite gnome extension gets unexpectedly killed by an update.
KDE appears to be much more stable in that regard in that they’re actively trying (Union) to make themes more resilient over time.

AMD gfx cards cannot meet or exceed 5080/5090 cards. That said, I think a 9070xt is the best choice right now, because it’s probably going to be cheaper overall to just upgrade in 3-4 years rather than buy a 5090 and hold onto it for 10 years or whatever. You do you, but for me, I think upgrading early is the better choice since 2 flagship AMD cards should equal the price of the nvidia 5080.

As far as distros are concerned, Bazzite is a fantastic starting point because you almost certainly can’t go wrong. If you run into programs that need a kernel module or superuser permissions, just distro hop. It’s very likely that in your first time using Linux that you’ll not need those power user things, so Bazzite will be rock solid for you.
Also, in Linux, best practice is to set your home folder to be a separate partition on your HD. You can point your distro to the existing home folder so if you distro hop and you won’t lose your desktop environment prefs/setup or your files.
Here’s my notes on this for Fedora if you need a guide:
Drive partitioning is highly variable between distros and even within distros that have received updates. The following shows the modern setup for all distros at this time.
swapwill depend on how much RAM the system has, and whether hibernation will be used. The proper /system partition size varies from distro to distro. Add a /home folder using the remainder of your drive space. In my case, I have an entire drive for my /home folder (the WD drive) that just doesn’t get reformatted ever if I distrohop.

I got a good bundle deal from Microcenter on a mobo with a wifi card that took over a year to be properly supported by the Linux kernel (or whatever relevant entity). This is good advice, but it’s likely that since we’re at the end of the AM5 generation, no new mobos should come out needing updates to function properly.
In my case, it was that I needed to hard power cycle (unplug, replug) sometimes to get Linux to initiate the networking card.

You don’t start a chicken farm with Tractor Supply chicks is the answer. Even if you did it that way, you’re not really losing out much in the grand scheme of things.
Tractor Supply chicks are sold as glorified pets.
Fun fact: it costs next to nothing to ship chicks through the USPS because of heavy subsidies for the industry. You literally just buy a crate from a wholesaler to start a broiler farm.

Œ and ẞ are very standard in French and German. Both at the same time if you travel to Alsace-Lorraine.

The average person wouldn’t demonstrably care. Same thing with shrinkflation. Also, depending on where you live, the average IQ and general knowledge thresholds people meet are lower than you think. We’re all living with the consequences of Gen X and older millennials that were brought up with lead gasoline and poor schooling.
Don’t say that, the Hudson Bay Company died a few years ago. It’s worth a read in Wikipedia; they were so powerful hundreds of years ago that they were treated like a country.
IBM is defunct for consumer tech.
Radio Shack is dead.
Many other examples haha.
70 years after the author’s death IIRC

day to day people who don’t care about computers as a hobby memorize the steps to using their computers along with the icons. The average person couldn’t use Linux in a work environment simply because they lack critical thinking skills required to use a slightly different computing environment. Your everyday middle management refuses to cut productivity for long term change that isn’t overwhelmingly positive to their bottom line.
Walmart hires the city police btw lol. Might have something to do with this.
They’re putting armed guards at supermarkets near me right now lol.
As someone who stole from the supermarket all the time in college, I just wanna say that the need is starting to foment in recent times for me. The social contract is growing cracks now that I can’t see retirement and financial stability in my late 30s.

9070 XT has been great for me so far in Fedora 👌🏽. I couldn’t justify the extra 500$ for a 5080 for better ray tracing.

Mon putain ami québécois 👍🏽
Why the fuck does children things have to have such grotesque cartoon faces on everything?
Chez
It’s a preposition meaning “at the home/house/place” but can also be use figuratively. Really super cool.
