It makes more sense when you realize that it’s not that everything is files it’s that everything can be treated as a file. There are other APIs to interact with things, but everything can be interacted with as if it was a file. It doesn’t seem as bonkers like this.

Yeah, that’s what a Nazi is. Acting like it’s not akin to Nazism is what’s actually pissing on the graves of people who died in the war. “Erm, actually someone is only a Nazi if they were a member of the National Socialist Party in Germany during WWII” is doing them a favor. Don’t let them hide.

Coming from someone who was raised in the southeast US, a huge part of the Lost Cause of the South movement wasn’t to erase what the Confederacy did, but to just paint them in a slightly more positive light. Rebranding, so to speak. Acting like some specific breed of ultranationalism isn’t technically “a Nazi” is just the same shit. In the minds of many people that live near me, there is absolutely nothing odd about celebrating under the world’s largest Confederate monument with fireworks. Despite the fact that it was finished in response to Brown v. Board of Education. Despite the fact that Stone Mountain has historically been and still is associated with the literal KKK. It’s the same shit.

Being pedantic about the terms helps them.
