Smart watch:

ZsWatch. They are developing the PPG sensor and I have used their PPG sensor hub driver for my own smart watch project. The guy heading it up is super knowledgable.

Healthy Pi Move this one seems interesting but maybe less open.

Also with GadgerBridge, you can have complete local control of many smart watches like Amazfit (Helio strap is my choice there for accuracy and whoop alternative. Bip3 is also very accurate) and a lot of Garmins and xiaomi.

Why do you say privacy and zero data retention? Has there been any proof of this? What we have learned from the last few years of investigations is companies lie and lie and lie through their teeth about anything regarding privacy.

Huh, interesting. I had the opposite experience.

I mean the tabs are nice, but then everything is just a clusterfuck of randomly made pages, no tags, bad search, and pretty much only a filesystem of organization (especially in a team). Liked the hand-written to OCR feature though.

I only found obsidian a bit ago, but getting into wikilinks with every association to another note makes everything very findable, which is the most important if you are looking for a note you made 6 months ago but only know tertiary info about it.

Corporations are allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want. There might be a few tiny consequences 10-20 years later that shaves a couple months of profit down, but that is just the cost of business and massive profits for the rest of the time.

If you produce <10k units per year, you are in the “fuck you” category of customers where most companies won’t even give you the time of day, much less data sheets under NDAs, design tools, or actual access to their chips at somewhat reasonable prices. Chips that are 5 years old are often fully open. This is especially egregious in the wearables space… (Not saying it is for this phone, per se)

Also older chips use RAM that can actually still be bought because smartphone companies + AI bullshit haven’t bought all of the stock for the next 2 years.

But hey, we all are going hard right in the Benelux, so in a decade you guys will probably have to pay some private equity company a monthly subscription for them to hold the dikes closed for you lol. Or maybe they will just be so fucked and non-maintained through privatization that the will all fail anyway because it isn’t profitable enough

If you want to go really cheap, you can get a used Chromebook for like 50€ and put PMOS on it for full blown Linux 😂

The problem is comoanys’ VBA macros. Many many companies run on excel essentially and have a few spreadsheets using VBA for important things.

Libreoffice has 1st class python scripting support, unlike Microsoft’s shoehorned in environment, so it is much better for scripting.

Sadly, it makes it more difficult to switch.

I was part of tech support for work until last year.

My list of ridiculous bugs is quite long… Even down to basics like the microphone, using Microsoft office at all, windows explorer, and opening teams had bugs where people’s work laptops were unusable for day to day tasks.

I cook a lot (not a chef by any means but just a hobby home cook).

Heat masks a lot of flavor. I always think that if the food that I make tastes bad cold, it was shit food to begin with and the heat just hid it.

Texture is another thing, but my food goal is that my meals taste as good cold as they do hot.

All I see:

• our data still gets collected
• our phones, TVs, wiretap “assistants” still spy on us and upload all of our information to personal datasets that companies can access
• “deleting your data” as per GDPR is just a database flag/row that says the data says it is deleted
• EU just authorized any and all companies to spy on your communications 24/7, 365 days a year
• freedom of speech/expression doesn’t exist here any more than in America, maybe less

Our right to privacy (freedom right pillar) is literally daily being violeted 1000 times over and the most I have ever seen happen is a slap on the wrist 0.01% of yearly revenue fine that didn’t change anything. Companies can fuck you over all they like unless you have a 10million € army of lawyers…

Also how is it going in Germany with the Palestine protester that had been locked in solitary confinement (known torture) for 23 hours per day for the past almost year after a show trial kangaroo court where they wouldn’t allow even any independent record of the trial inside (violation of both dignity and justice pillars)

There is precious little enforcement of many rights, so we absolutely cannot take them for granted and have to fight for them on every front.

Hopefully since the EU high density desktop/server RAM industry is pretty much nonexistent (as far as I know), they won’t tax it to hell.

China RAM vs US RAM, they are both not EU “allies” now so there should be little reason.

Claude directly has over 1100000 lines of direct code contribution. It has pretty much the same amount of code committed directly as the creator has.

His entire coding history before Claude consisted of changing readmes or searching and replacing project name text or modifying a dead link to his own link.

Suddenly in 4 months, without ever producing actual code before, he becomes a very competent coder enough to tackle mCAD, a notoriously difficult coding task that takes many many years with teams to make meaningful progress on?

That is vibe coding.

And his co-contributer “gianlucafiore” is exactly the same story. Has literally only made issues until LLM coding got released and then late 2025 (December) switched to making commits that he badly copied from an LLM such that some of the commits are literally one full line (as direct in-file working of the LLM wasn’t as accessible then)

That is vibe coding.

So the top 3 contributes are

1. An LLM
2. Someone that only has committed any code via an LLM
3. Someone who has only made issues before beginning with an LLM and submits clearly generated code

There is likely no human-made code in the entire project besides changing a couple links.

Tried Fedora Silver blue or universalblue spins? Unless you do serious embedded development work (which takes more setup on atomic distros), then I have experienced that it is less work in general in setup and upkeep.
