I don’t know if it’s fair to call them the Disney of Europe but they have damaged their reputation by aggressively going after competition, such as BlueBrixx.
she/her, A(u?)DHD, German, sometimes draws nonsense. Likes Doctor Who a normal amount.

“Couple of” colloquially means “a small number of”. She married him and is now poking mild fun at him, not threatening divorce.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a word or concept in your language that does not translate very well to English?
1·2 days agoI wouldn’t know. The verb is itadaku which is a humble form of the verb morau, meaning “to receive”. The imasu part is basically just polite grammar. If there is anything religious about it, it’s obscure.

8·2 days agoThey’re not saying, “in order to be allowed to use these glasses, these are the prerequisites and then you’re good to go”, they’re saying that the law would in theory require them to announce themselves loudly, implying that that’s of course unrealistic and thus using these glasses cannot be allowed.

2·2 days agoIf you read the article, you’d know that a point of criticism is precisely the fact that the camera isn’t highly visible. Hiding the thing even more wouldn’t fly with German/EU data privacy and they wouldn’t be allowed to sell them here.

Did you mean itadakimasu?
Because that is what you say in Japanese when you start eating but interestingly it doesn’t mean “Guten Appetit” (basically “have a nice meal”) but “I am (thankfully) going to receive (a nice meal)”. While “Guten Appetit” is about others who are eating alongside you, “itadakimasu” is about the speaker.
I mean, what if I miss the beans? What then, huh?!
