Wind is a killer, but I find (at least here) that when it gets -40 style cold it becomes quite still wind wise outside of a storm. If the winds blowing I am going to be inside.

Eh, its fine if its a dry cold. Good gear goes a long way and the good news is that after -20 its more or less the same feel.

Yeah, Canadian here, scarves are really hit and miss. Almost more a fashion pick vs a cold weather need.

That is why I can’t deal with the high temps. I can get warm, put on better gear or make a heat source and be comfy in cold weather. I have very little recourse when its hot other then get out of clothes (that can also not help at all), get wet (also can lead to other issues) or find shade.

My first apartment in Calgary had an issue with the fire alarm going off in very cold nights since it was an old style that used (in part not the whole system) a piece of metal though the wall and went off when the difference between the inside and out side was to much (IE on fire inside). The issue was that when you keep the inside at +20C and the outside is -45C the alarm goes off and everyone has to go stand outside and wait for the all clear.

That being said I will take a dry Alberta winter over a damp one any day. -40 is fine with me (not if I stand outside too long and die though). Really once you are at -20 its not much different, just die/get frost bite faster.

There is a place in Saskatchewan that had +50c and -50C in one year. Wild that people live there, +50C is way too hot for me.

Yeah, and this is how I know you never worked in the random standard production to miss the humor. Its a picture of a tech bro type in a clearly decommissioned closet stressed out about what’s going on, a common thing and always funny. I can just picture the tech on site in the next room replacing a fan on a much less “cool” looking appliance while that guy stresses out on a conference call with the “stakeholders” on his coax nest.

Now that being said I have worked on places still using coax (might still be) and tape libraries, and all sorts of museum pieces well after you would think they would. But I can tell that picture is after decommission since it is clean. If that was in use it would be filthy and filled with so many things that may or may not be important/in use. Fans all clogged running at max rpm, and the smell… I can still smell it now. But then again I was the guy they called to fix shit after the local (often tech bro) it guy gives up so I think I often saw the worst places.

The issue is that they don’t care, they sell the data to others and they get to spin it while doing it. Its not selling data (that you are broke) to an advertiser, its the idea of that advertiser falling behind if they don’t buy your data (that you are broke).

Uhhhhhhh, bad news there. Many companies have been found to have their stuff make hidden networks and share info these days. I am sure you could figure out a work around if you are savvy enough, but the normal dood? Fucked and pretending this is normal.

Possible that they are piggy backing on other hidden networks. I remember there was a whole thing with Samsung years ago with their stuff doing something like that, and there are a few patents around that propose hidden networks from the “internet of things” days.
