Sure in an ideal world you’re right. The other side of that, is when I’m in a professional or learning environment, and it’s constantly being interrupted by arbitrary questions by people.

I had a college class that got entirely derailed by two people like this, and they were actually things I dearly wanted to learn. Instead, we were constantly interrupted by people wanting these questions answered.

Is that fair to me, who paid like 2500 dollars to be in that class? I’m sorry, but I don’t think it is. It’s disruptive, and it is wasting the time of the (in this case) lecturer and the people there to learn.

I never said to do any of those things. I said that people who want these things also need to realize, that it’s not everyone elses job to be their life-interpreter for them, and cater to their needs.

I have my needs not met all the time in public settings. It sucks, but that’s life. Everyone is doing the same thing.

Not every person deserves an answer for every action around them. I’m sorry, but that’s just not realistic.

Someone avoiding a person is not discrimination. People are not entitled to other peoples’ time or patience. That’s what I’m trying to say here.

You’re free to act however you want to. Honestly, that’s fine with me.

But the crux of this is, if you’re acting how you want, there’s a good chance that people don’t want to be around how you’re acting, and those people shouldn’t be chastised for not bending over backwards to cater to people who’re behaving in different ways.

If you want on that ride, fine. But don’t cry about it when no one else wants to accept that kind of thing.

Oh no, someone voicing an opinion besides “people should be endlessly catered to and those people should never make an effort to cater to others” how shocking right?

If you can’t abide by social or workplace norms, then don’t expect people to want to be around you, or want to work with you.

They’re still social norms because people are fine with them.

Just because a group of people online are against things, doesn’t mean that everyone else isn’t fine with it.

You literally don’t know if the information you’re being given is accurate. Meaning you’re not making informed decisions.

Why are you defending technology that has shown time and time again to be a hinderance for the vast majority of uses?

The original poster was saying that same condescending advice CS majors would give other people in college, because now the shoe is on the other foot and CS majors are in the shit show just like everyone else is.

Yeah dude. Tech people have literally told other career paths to study CS since I was in college, for like 15 years now.

I see you’re getting downvotes, but these same CS people told lots of other careers this very thing not even a handful of years ago.

I’ve had multiple CS peeps tell me this as I was starting my entertainment career.

Sure they do, but an OS isn’t influencing your life compared to Meta or any of the media conglomerates.

AI is not trustworthy. A friend of mine literally put Warhammer 40,000’s rules and codexes into an AI so we could ask it questions and use it as a fast check rules tool.

It gets shit wrong a bunch.

So if the fucking thing can’t do a simple data-check on a 60 page document regarding a fucking boardgame, how the hell is it supposed to do ‘real’ things?
