Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•AI Job interview warns against using AI yourselfEnglish
20·10 days agoI dk how he kept going for this job. It felt like they kept disrespecting him as a person.
Job searching is literally one massive humiliation ritual. The whole process is tailored to make you happy about accepting a shit deal.
No that’s self-employed.
Technically you could have a B+ version of self-emplyed, that is just: “crime, I set up a online scam/grift to earn ‘passive’ income”
Depends a lot on what you do.
But yeah. It can be a mix of whoring yourself out to google advertising, facebook, instagram, and shudder… tiktok.
I’ve gotten to know a guy in the same business as me whose been doing it long enough to have the momentum to just sit in his tiny storefront location, and have customers coming in the door by word of mouth, and by just having seen the store at some point years earlier.
I am so incredibly jealous. But. I’m a little over a year in and I am starting to pick up clients that heard about me from previous clients, and that is happening more and more.
SSS: You are the guy
Also B: Self-employed

If you can use your words to have them burned alive, so can they.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Can you make specific apps bypass the system volume
1·1 month agoAFAIK the “right” way to do this is use a virtual device for system audio, and have that in turn output to the actual audio interface, so you can keep it maxed out.
But that doesn’t really feel like the ideal solution.
That said I’m probably missing something. EasyEffects is able to process audio in ways that should enable what you’re asking for, I just don’t know how.
Also, if you haven’t already, check out qpwgraph. It’s a virtual patch bay for routing audio around however you want.
Best part, is it’s not an add-on, really. It’s just a GUI for capabilities that pipewire already has.
No-one is claiming linux is perfect.
What I do have a problem with is the idea that we should all act like it will explode in our faces.
For the vast majority of users it won’t.

At this point I’m starting to think it might be better to just take a giant loan at the start of your life which you promise to pay off by having your kids work it off.
And then never having kids.
SMH. You started, and didn’t take the middle?
We have absolutely no context for the messages.
How does a cruel response help in any of the contexts you suggest?
There are very, very few situtations that warrant not being cordial to a fellow human being, as it’s almost never, ever, helpful. To either party.
How does telling someone they’re too ugly to talk to you encourage them to show you or anyone else respect?
To be clear, I’m not defending catcalling.
But there’s a difference between informing someone that their actions offend, and insulting their entire person.
The latter only leads to improvement in behavior about as often as it makes it worse.
