  • Desu there are a few fediverse “trueisms” that disagree with but like most forums, it’s kind of a public bathroom wall. I don’t really take it personally when someone(s) disagree with me, it could be a literal child for all I know.

I think that the idea of this place (Lemmy) being some meet-up for the insurgent left is a pipe dream anyway, when a forum =/= social media; we have bluesky for that. I just like the fact that I can post most anything and be confident that there isnt going to be a hardcore American Christian Conservative in the comments shitting things up, but I’ll take whatever gradient of leftist comes along.

Anyway, I’m ranting a bit too. I think that Lemmy has an engaging community that’s like 80% cool and 100% more intelligent than what you’ll find Reddit. I never mind to throw out a comment here because I know at least a few people will see it and maybe engage, rather than the crapshot into the 1,000+ comment chain void anywhere else. I do wish that less communities had me banned lol. I mostly just lurk aside from the occasional shitpost

  • it implies the us libertarians aren’t usually fascist.

Well yeah, that’s what I’m getting at. Whether or not most self-described libertarians are actually libertarians (most arent) isnt really relevant. Libertarianism, as an idealogy, is fundamentally opposed to fascism, as an idealogy, definitionally so. It’s only by FPTP, majority rule, etc. that finds those two groups voting for the same platform instead of being confident enough to run their own parties. (See also: outspoken communist ideologues earnestly supporting the DNC because they know their vote will never be represented otherwise.)

As I said, the comic really isnt that deep or serious, but I do appreciate that it’s a bit more self-aware than the average Ben Garrison piece

  • Lol I saw these at my Aldi too. It’s pretty dumb at first but I have seen ice cubes for sale at liquor stores for making mixed drinks.

Regular tap water usually doesn’t make perfectly clear ice and most trays are a lot smaller than 1.8" cubes. I wonder if the tray is reusable? If you were planning on a cocktail night and knew what you were looking for, this might not be as dumb of a buy as you think, especially if it was a one-time need.

It just looks especially silly at Aldi, a grocery store that prides itself on affordable products and doesn’t sell liquor lol
