I think pug’s departure was mostly a rage-quit, rather than actual mistreatment. But as a history fan i found almost all their posts annoying so i admit that might skew my view.

Still not sure what exactly your problem was with my history posts, but I’d agree that me winding down activity had more in common with a rage-quit - it was fundamentally frustration in my personal experience using Piefed which led me to fuck off.

I didn’t feel particularly ‘targeted’ or like Rimu was being unfair on some personal level. It wasn’t ‘mistreatment’, I agree with you. It was just my experience becoming more frustrating than entertaining. So off I went.

Pug could’ve just kept posting and trusted in the appeal of their content. They didn’t need the ability to upvote more than 240 times a day to keep posting.

The appeal of my content wasn’t in question, though. Like I said, it was a difference in my user experience becoming shittier, not in ‘losing’ fans or engagement, though I suspected the policy change would also cause long-term difficulties in retention of users.
