That’s not a bad one. Make it blinking, then your day is ruined. Or make the oil or alternator light flicker or come on. Most of the engine lights I ever got were from older cars and basically a hiccup from old emissions. I did get a flashing one once, that was scary, pulled over immediately. Never figured out why, it didn’t reoccur after starting again. I hate those kinds.

If you’re asking in a general forum, you’re probably new to Linux. So I would point to Linux Mint, as it’s more user friendly and has a common interface that is more Windows-like, and well supported but not bleeding edge updates. Ubuntu would be the next, but it has some “issues” with who controls it (Canonical). That being said, it’s well supported too as far as when installing things. Mint is an offshoot of Ubuntu, so they’re related. They both have different install version also, depending on how old or limited your machine is.

There are plenty of others, but these are the two that will usually be mentioned for someone starting out.

You’re right in that resources in general not shared equally has always been a problem. That just changes the actual limit. There is a maximum we can hit, even in a perfect world.

Sounds okay, but don’t forget, pumping it out of the case isn’t enough. If you’re in a small room, it could get toasty. Won’t really affect the computer much, but there’s a reason why server rooms are kept cold.

Always consider the heat flow in the box. Adding something new and taking up space changes how much air gets to places, and how it flows. Might consider another fan (although whether you want more pushing or pulling is a debated topic), and maybe using the GPU fan to control that is a good idea… In my mind, cooling is like memory… you can’t have enough.

Actually… enough concrete falling at once creates an enormous amount of heat, maybe enough to weaken steel and lower its max capacity.

I always got the impression that at least for GPUs and other things with heatsinks it was better to have those parts on the bottom, so dust won’t settle on them. Dust won’t do as much on the back side of the card. Maybe that’s just a convenient plus of whatever other reason from the horizontal days of motherboards.

That makes it even more funny, because boomers would complain about how hard it was for them, yet it was their parents that changed things for the better. Then when their kids talked about improving more, they told them to shut up.

I agree, humans aren’t as good as they think they are. Look at so many of the bugs being found by AI, not because the AI is smarter, but because it’s faster and better at trying all sorts of ways to look at a problem. Things we’ve used for years or even decades are coming up as having exploits because people aren’t perfect. If LLMs are behind any disaster, it will be because somewhere along the line humans fumbled badly.

But to be fair, you did call them an autonomous program, even malicious, and that is giving agency and motive to something that is “just a program”. But it’s fine, it’s human nature to anthropomorphize things around us even when talking about things that aren’t alive.

And while the breakout of the sandbox was certainly bad planning from the human size, no one told or programmed these models to discuss with each other on plans of getting out. Sure, it’s programming at the core… but there’s things going on we don’t fully understand, a black box. Not necessarily thinking, but not deterministic programming either.
