English isn’t alone in deciding what is a blueberry and what isn’t.
From an economic viewpoint AI companies are not worth is as it is now. OpenAI and Anthropic are hundreds of billions of dollars in debt and will never make a profit. Same goes for the AI subsidiaries of Microsoft, Meta, Google etc, except they are just leeching off of the mother companies and hiding their figures among their finances. Paying creators for their data would make very little difference in their overall finances.
This is why people who claim that AI has its uses are always dead wrong. Sure it can help you write sloppy code ten times as fast, or make you “research” (lease out your brain) things slightly faster (minus all the factchecking to see if it hallucinates). It may even help medical research, but all these advantages, which are all “this can be done slightly faster”, does not make up for the fact that it significantly contributes to burning up our planet a lot faster than it is already on its way to doing.
We can live without any of its advantages, but we literally cannot live with all its disadvantages.

Nothing of what you write absolves meta of the prime responsibility for this happening. They provided the platform where they not only let this happen but actively encourage it (and often pay for it).
It really cannot. But people who have no knowledge in a field absolutely think LLMs are proficient in that field. As soon as an expert in that field look at what the LLM is doing in their field, that illusion quickly vanishes.
You are selling something, you are trying to sell it to yourself.
Just don’t watch it. Nobody is forcing you to watch it. But bragging about keeping yourself ignorant solely because you are too lazy to sit and consume media longer than tiktok videos is not a good look for you.

A bit exaggerated, but 70% of OpenAIs revenue is from a handful of enterprise customers. The other tech giants, spearheaded by Nvidia, are shifting their entire business model towards enterprise customers, which is largely why consumergrade hardware is incredibly expensive if not directly unobtainable.
Also they could just pirate it if they wanted something new.
