My shop switched from using a local drive for storage to using SharePoint/OneDrive and its awful. Waiting 10 minutes for an updated production file to sync versus having it instantly available is going to cause a world of problems on rush orders.

You see, investors sincerely believe that AI has value and more AI has more value. How do you create more AI? More data centers!
So now you have several hundred multimillionaires and billionaires, with almost zero understanding of what AI is, what it’s useful for and what it’s not useful for, but they believe with all their heart , more data centers makes wealth go up.
Now they are buying up land, with money they borrowed, to build data centers, with hardware that hasn’t been manufactured yet all to potentially realize financial gains that are backed by nothing but speculation and emotion.
The sane answer we need. So many comments are trying to explain it using the unit cost without accounting for differences in the systems configurations.
I tried to set a reminder yesterday and is proceeded to search Google for “set a reminder for 9pm”. AI is making my phone less useful and it’s infuriating. Even worse, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I guess it depends on geminis mood?
Yeah, the lead up to it was a lot of fun with things like 28 days later, walking dead comic and the zombie survival guide. Then the genre exploded. At least we got the two left 4 dead games out of it.
Greenland was also terribly fun. Haven’t checked out the sequel and don’t know that I will but if someone puts on the first one I’ll know what I’m doing for the next two hours.
Plex is kind of a weird hybrid where it is self hosted but a part of the backend infrastructure is not. For my use this is advantageous because it simplifies the service for my less technically inclined family members that would struggle with using something like jellyfin.
I look at it as a comfortable middle ground to get people off Netflix and other services for now but I don’t have much faith that it will last forever with what plex is doing as a company recently.
Yeah, as a Canadian I’m pretty glad I don’t live south of the border. Things are a little better up here but the cost of living to income ratio is worse so the US does have that going for them.
