2·26 days agoCentipedes. They’re everywhere. I get jump scared by one at least once a week.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What kind of things do you think movies are most dishonest about?
2·3 months agoNot to mention that for period pieces especially that’s probably one of only like three dresses/pants they own, if they’re relatively well-off.
Skydiving with the Queen (she was still alive at the time).
Nah, what you’re describing is just moderatemaxxing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever had a time a food so good it "converted" you?
5·3 months agoHated bananas as a child, the smell alone would make me gag.
Puberty hit hard though, and periods do weird things to a person. I woke up in the middle of the night one night NEEDING to eat a banana. I ate all the ones we had at home (about 4-5). When my mom woke up I asked to go grocery shopping to buy more.
I’ve had a completely regular relationship with bananas ever since.
Omg if you work hard and get promoted you could get a cubicle with a view of the plant! That’s my dream!
Yes but the purpose of the date isn’t just to go through the motions of a typical date. It’s to get to know each other. I expect a person to suggest a place they like, and that tells me something useful and opens the conversation.

13·4 months agoWhat an absolutely awful attitude to have around children. Forget celebrating all you achieved, or the fact that you’re clearly improving, it wasn’t good enough after two attempts so just give up forever.

It isn’t just loss of sleep. My body is very settled on its routine and relies heavily on it. It usually takes me 1-2 weeks to mentally recover from any time change, regardless of whether I gain or lose an hour. During that time I have a hard time sleeping, concentrating, and everything I do feels like it’s “off” - it feels like knowing you’ve forgotten something but can’t figure out what it is. When the whole population is forced to do this at the same time twice every year, you get an increase in accidents, aggravated health conditions, and general unhappiness in the country, all at once. And it’s all completely preventable, imposed by outdated societal norms. That’s why people won’t stop complaining. We’re hoping change will finally come.
