From your list of examples, it sounds like a big part of your problem with fedi experience has been with political discourse, mostly American focused. And just like that discourse in other media and communities is currently supercharged with frustration, you’re going to find it here too, and often those frustrations manifest like the toxicity you describe. I think the current fedi base is a bunch of independent thinking justice focused empathetic counter culture technologically unafraid wackos, and so are their ideas and passions. Honestly it’s beautiful sometimes. Im the most sensitive person out there, and rarely does a mean reply make me cry myself to sleep anymore.

But if that politics discourse still bothers you that’s okay (Honestly). There is plenty of content and users who feel the same as you, and have lots and lots of feel good communities for them. Even if you don’t like chocolate, Neapolitan ice cream is still twice as amazing as single flavor.

Nolan has been a solid director and his batman films are mostly quality filmmaking, but Bale in the titular role ruined them. He was so unenjoyable to watch. I’ve never rooted against the character before him. Which is weird because the rest of the casting was absolutely superb. Music and cinematography were in the sweet spot for the franchise.
