It was a pricing issue when I was 12 and didn’t have a job. It’s a service issue when I’m almost 30 and I want to buy it but you won’t let me or you make it more complicated than piracy.

With video games I haven’t pirated a game in years because Steam and GOG make it (relatively) painless and most of the issues that arise are not even Steam’s fault and are usually the big developers delisting games or ending support.

Movies and shows? I’d have to do research to figure out who currently has the rights to the media and pick my streaming platform accordingly. Hell, some shows and movies series’ are split between different streaming services altogether. If I decide to watch said show on a PC they’ll lower the quality to 720p and I can’t change it. If I want to watch something on the go it’ll get blocked half the time even if I have it pre-downloaded on my phone. And if I want to “buy” it I have to figure which services are selling it and even than it will restrict how I can watch it. And now we have to worry about you removing things that we paid for from our libraries? Go fuck yourself. Even if Steam delists a game from their store you can still play it if it’s in your library.

I would but it’s a work computer and it’s out of my hands. I’ve already tried running mint on one of them and about 70% of the software we use doesn’t even remotely work.

Anyone have a link to a guide on how to remove Copilot as much as you can? It keeps showing up on my computer at work and I’m so sick of it.

The company I work for is currently in the process of switching from our own server and email client to Outlook and OneDrive. It’s gonna be a fucking nightmare when we switch.

The only time I use private tabs is when I need to look something up that I should already know. Like spelling a really easy word or not knowing a very basic fact.

That’s me with my half my siblings. And yet, I still forget to text them on their birthday even though the last text message was on their birthday.

We need to stop calling it age verification. It’s identity verification. You will have to give them your full identity to message strangers, watch YouTube, look at porn, or play online games.

I know this isn’t exactly what this article is about but it’s something I’m getting increasingly tired of seeing posted every single day. Most people never read past the headlines and don’t even read the comments so I will continue to mention it in hopes someone new sees it.

They were gonna lay those people off regardless of whether or not they were using AI. The only difference is that if they say it was because of AI the line will go up and they will make more money. If anything, the extra money they make just by saying it was because of AI could easily pay the salary of those being layed off. It’s basically a magic word that gives them free money. I don’t even think wallstreet is even in on the hype and are just pumping it as high as they can so they can make out like bandits when shit hits the fan.

If it was the 100th, the 200th, or even the 300th I would get it. But the 250th? That literally means nothing. It’s like celebrating my 25th birthday as if it’s as big a deal as my 21st or 30th. In reality I don’t even remember my 25th birthday because nobody, including myself, gave a shit.

I’m pretty sure it’s literally just because the majority of those in power right now won’t be alive for the 300th birthday and they just picked the next best looking number they found find.

In my opinion, it’s not even meant to stop kids from using the internet. I believe it’s to collect data on people that don’t know any better or don’t care about uploading their ID or face to some mysterious server. The type of people that click “accept all” for cookies when they go to a website and those that live in the “if you don’t have anything to hide than it shouldn’t be a problem” camp. I have a friend like this that whenever I bring it up he simply does not give a single shit about his own privacy on the internet and just calls the whole thing, in his own words, a “nothingburger.”

Explaining this to the layman is honestly infuriating. They just tell you that you are overreacting and that it’s not a big deal. That if you have nothing to hide than you shouldn’t have to worry. An analogy I came up with that sometimes helps is removing all the doors in public bathrooms. If you have nothing to hide than you shouldn’t be worried, right? Are you comfortable with your mom or employer knowing your browsing habits with your ID and/or face attached to it? What about that time you posted a meme to your friends discord server making fun of Donald Trump?

In my mind it’s the same idea as burning down your house to cook a burger. Yeah, you cooked the burger, but you literally destroyed everything else just to make it. Or you could just cook it on the stove.

With AI companies it seems they’d rather destroy the planet and poison the internet to a point of unusability just to make their AI models. Yeah, they’ll get their result, but they literally destroyed everything just to make it.

Personally I have nothing against AI and the practicality of it. I do, however, have a problem with AI companies destroying everything to achieve their vague goals of “the future.”

The only place I ever run into people that love AI is on the internet and old people posting “memes” on Facebook. Younger people especially hate AI.

They’ve been using it as an infinite money glitch for awhile now. Make AI slop music and make a bunch of bots listen to it for the ad revenue. Nobody makes the music, nobody listens to the music, nobody listens to the ads, but Spotify gets paid. They’ll never crack down on this unless they themselves have to stop. Until than, they’ll just “assume” everything is made by people and play dumb when questioned.

I tried one just for shits a giggles awhile back to see if there is any merit to the widespread use of them. The only way you’d find these even remotely realistic or interesting is if you’ve never had any kind of sexual encounter with a real person before, whether in person or through text. After about five minutes of “chatting” with one of these bots it started to respond like half baked fan fiction that didn’t understand the basics of sex or even anatomy. The cadence is very predictable and it tends to repeat the same wording and phrasing constantly. If you have real world experience with people, it just feels like a generic chatbot.

In my opinion, this is more proof that these people need to interact with real humans. If these chat bots seem at all human to you, you need to interact with more actual humans.

I’m only surprised that they are paying for it.
