It’s not so much about keeping it safe as it is doing the minimum required by law to make sure someone else is liable.

It can function a bit like a bail out if the investors know they’ll get a better than market rate when it’s nationalised, but yeah they still shouldn’t be conflated without reason.

The point of last.fm for me is the recommendations more than the stats themselves, are you able to run a similar recommendation engine based on some musician database or similar?

Also it can be nice to find an old game you bought 20 years ago in a closet with your old console and have some chance to be able to just boot it up and play it without needing the servers to still be up and running…

but if there’s less to watch, and more things you don’t want to watch, that time will increase, unless you give up and go read a book or something instead 😅
