the suggested withholding on second (or third) jobs is higher to make up for the fact that your first job’s withholding is usually based on it being your only income source. in the end, you’re taxed on your combined income, one job or three, it doesn’t matter.

every bypass to age-gating at youtube that i’ve used, tried, or looked at no longer works, and hasn’t for awhile.

the walmart store brand sliced bread has been made so cheap now, there’s no ‘substance’. it can’t stand up in a toaster without literally “wilting”. so it will toast crooked and then not pop up because it gets stuck. i have an old toaster, probably from the 1980s. not for ‘bagels’ either, just a normal narrow-slot toaster. it has no safety cut-off on it… i dunno if that’s even a thing… but it will not shut off the heating elements when it gets stuck and can’t “pop up”. the whole thing is a fire hazard.

i use an old one (the blue accented one) of those keyboards as my ‘remote control’ when i’m watching on the ‘tv’. works pretty well for that… running a media player and web streaming. i did try doing actual ‘work’ with it once, but i had to connect a different keyboard to do any serious typing.

i used to have a lap desk attached to the top of a beanbag-like pillow. same type of thing my mom and grandma would use to do crafts and stuff while they watched their ‘stories’ (soaps).

… just this week, and it’s only monday!

i’ve had that happen a few times over the years streaming tv or movies. have it stop part-way and not be available to continue.

tahoe, the previous version and last to support intel cpu, will get two more years of updates. the last intel cpu mac wasn’t discontinued until 2023.

there is no further upgrade path from apple for anything that cannot run golden gate. it’s e-waste to most, a linux goldmine for a few. just like every pre-8th gen era windows pc, but at least with windows you can trick the current version to run on the relics that don’t ‘officially’ support it.

this summer has been unlike others. you might have done the exact same thing in half the country.

when i was a kid (seems like eons ago) we vacationed there a lot, in north and south dakota (and a little mt and wy). mom and me loved the badlands. the terrain and features, wildlife, the night sky… i don’t remember it ever being “too hot” to be outside. we camped, in a tent or popup; so outside is where we were basically all the time.

that’s what trixie’s netinst defaults to when i set up new desktops using encrypted lvm… root and swap volumes inside that, unlocking together at boot. my use doesn’t hit swap much, so it’s nbd. i just leave it like it is. only where an installer doesn’t support encrypted swap partitions do i use a file or ram-based swap instead.

Back when I used them, they were about meeting people,

back then they didn’t suck (as much) because they were still in the ‘acquire users at any cost’ phase.

they also had to go back and reshoot some, as filming in new york had concluded months earlier.
