2·1 day agoThey have mics, cameras and speakers in them with an AI that interjects on its own and spies on all your apps.
I wasn’t going to buy them before I read the article, but I’m certainly not interested now.
I like the idea of AR as an aid for disabilities or in certain practical applications in science and industry but they aren’t marketing this to warehouses, nuclear plants, or automotive assemblers. They’re marketing it to influencers and randos. No thanks.
Just yet is better than not at all, I think.
I’ve done that to for a similar job and honestly there’s not much difference as far as rest or relaxation is concerned. At best I can say having the extra week day for appointments is one of the few up sides of 4/10’s.
The extra time per week spent in traffic for a shorter day has its down sides too and they equal out in my experience.
Less frustration in traffic, more frustration from not having the time to come to a more natural stopping point or finish bigger projects. It’s a crapshoot either way.
This is why I mentioned shorter work weeks with less hours and the same pay. That might have more pros than cons.
I’ve worked 4/10’s, 9/80’s, 5/10’s, 5/8’'s and even 6/12’s. That’s not even counting the military. 9/80’s was sort of better in a way especially in conjunction with federal holidays, but even then traffic was a nightmare. Public transit would have been even worse.
I already work a 4 day work week. 4/10’s. I get up at 3 am. I fight traffic on the way home which doubles or triples my commute time home. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
I think 4/10’s is already doable in a lot of industries but I question why they expect it to continue to be a 40 hour work week, or expect us to be paid more money for less hours. Nothing has trended that way in the entire time I’ve been alive. Feels like a pipedream.

The government are selling out the American people for AI like they do for everything else that earns them favors or kickbacks.

I’m not. It still takes screenshots regardless of whether it can access your Internet connection to receive data or send it.
What I’m saying (though I failed at being clear) is that it will take screenshots of anything you put up on the screen (passwords, Internet connection data, Bluetooth device data etc). There was something in one of the videos I linked in another comment about it also collecting data via Bluetooth scanning.
Plus, if the device has ever been connected to a Wi-Fi network and you don’t disable wifi (in settings or physically on the board) there’s a significant possibility it will try to access the open networks around you. If your neighbor has an open guest network? That’s all it needs to continue to upload that information to the cloud.
I also seem to remember LG deliberately limiting 3rd party apps ability to use or create peer to peer networks but I haven’t seen anything about them limiting their own first party apps or OS. I wonder if that’s part of the alarming stuff Gamerz Nexus alluded to in the video when they talked about vulnerabilities that could compromise these TVs.
It was something like 5 am when I wrote my initial comment and I wasn’t fully awake yet. I’m sorry if it came off wrong but I didn’t intend to say that LG TVs were using HDMI connected computer’s Internet connections. Just that they can see anything and everything you can see when you connect and set up that device.
Nobody ever factory resets a TV before they get rid of it. If your trash guy decides to take home the TV you threw away and hook it up to the internet, or if you sell it, the next person might hook it up to the internet.
On Gamer’s Nexus’s video on the subject at 1:20 you’ll hear how they talk about how LG accesses your network data through windows.
I think it’s important to note that I didn’t say in my original comment anything about it using your windows Internet connection to send and receive that data that it collects via microphone or that it may have accessed through your Wi-Fi network if you happened to connect it to that.
I think people assumed (it’s early for me, my bad) that I meant it was transmitting this data that it collected over your windows computer’s Internet connection but that wasn’t what I was intending to claim. When you connect an LG device (Television or Monitor) you agree to allow that device access to your network and they literally say they have full access to your device both in the TOS and in device settings . They gather all the information of every single device connected to your TV. Their apps can “use all system resources” and “access your Internet connection”.

LG’s monitors were downloading malware/ad BS so you can’t trust the monitors either.
There’s a lot of misinformation in the comments here.
- LG have been caught using the Internet connection of connected devices (like windows computers) to snoop on your network.
- Because of that, it has access to your network even if you remove the wifi module or do not connect the TV directly to your network.
- Lobotomizing the TV will not necessarily fix this issue, but I still think it’s a good start. It may be beneficial to switch to a different operating system or just ban the TV from accessing certain parts of the Eco system on your computer.
- Removing Bluetooth, wifi, and microphone modules will be beneficial in the long run because this will not be the last time a company tries this and it’s not limited to LG. If you are technically inclined or can follow a YouTube video, go for it.
The fabric is to prevent it from accidentally shorting components. The foil is for a faraday cage.
I agree they’d probably be shocked but I honestly don’t know if that would be enough to motivate them to do something about it.
The Flock pushback isn’t about the surveillance for most. It’s a NIMBY problem.
The data center backlash is the same. They don’t want it in their town. They don’t care if it’s regulated or not so long as it’s not them dealing with the consequences (air pollution, imminent domain seizure of property, noise pollution, higher prices for utilities etc).
This is why campaigns against them aren’t national and organized. This is why they haven’t started a lobby group to petition the federal government to do anything to regulate them. They think they can nip this in the bud for their town and it’ll be good enough.
This is demonstrably wrong. It doesn’t have the ability to reason. Every kid is smarter than the extrapolation machine. Because the extrapolation machine doesn’t have smarts.
Either he doesn’t understand the product he’s schilling or he does and he thinks we’re idiots. I’ll let y’all decide which.

7·17 days agoSo then they should be forced to pull the game from Steam. Don’t sell your shit to a platform promoting Linux if you’re going to exclude it’s player base (any of itplayer base).
That and they should be forced to give refunds (not Valve, Ubisoft).
This ignores a lot about how automakers were skirting these restrictions in order to sell us larger vehicles and why there are so few sedans and compact cars being sold here these days.
The rollback isn’t the answer because obviously we should be limiting the size of vehicles and closing the loopholes that allow skirting of the law/regulations, but fuel efficiency is forcing smaller cars out and people here are not buying smaller EV’s because of range anxiety.
It didn’t think. Those things weren’t flagged as “ignore” in its parameters. That ain’t the same thing. I’m so tired.
