That’s cool. Dosbox-pure is the only reason I still use retroarch.

But one thing is using the retroarch core it automatically maps commonly used keys for dos games to handheld controller, which is nice. Does anyone know if this standalone version will have some function like that?

The Sony k-series. I had the k850i. Such a cool phone but pressing the tiny stiff buttons hurt so much after a while.

If you don’t like Gnome, use Aurora (the sister distro of Bluefin and Bazzite).

I used to play around with Aeon (built from opensuse). But it’s locked to Gnome only. I’d stick with Aurora or Bazzite instead.

Blast Em or Ares is the answer. I think they’re both in flatpak. I did have some issues with button mapping in Blast Em but that was a couple years ago.

Ubuntu feels a bit slow, the snaps I think is that problem as they launch slower. But Ubuntu-based distros don’t use snaps (Mint, popOS).

There are also non-Ubuntu distros that do use gnome. There’s people who like gnome and people who don’t, but it’s not “bloat” and it’s not limited to Ubuntu.

Budgie was started by Ikey Doherty for Solus. So quick background on Ikey, he does things because he thinks he has a better way of doing it, and he doesn’t do it for others so much as himself.

So we could probably say Budgie came about because Ikey wanted a desktop that suited him and his new (at the time) Solus project. And now it just goes on.

He’s at it again too. His work on Aeryn OS is all about building his own tools. He reinvents the wheel because it’s what suits him.

Openbox was my favourite, but there’s not a really good Wayland alternative yet so I’ve stuck with KDE for years.

I wanted to try Cosmic so I went to the source with popos and it’s really a good time. I haven’t used a Deb/Ubuntu base since the Crunchbang days but this is good and it seems there is a Cosmic update pushed through every week.

Hey guys, Windows is dominant so we need things to be designed more like Windows!

If we wanted a Windows experience we’d use Windows am I right? It’s painful enough I have to use it for work, at least let me have a better time at home.

It was based on Debian Sid when I tried it, so if it still is just a word of warning for anyone looking for rock solid Debian stability, Sid can be a bit more volatile with updates.
