But I don’t know why people don’t understand that the distribution, maintenance, and marketing of things is not free. We’re not entitled to other people’s time just because the tools they’ve used are based on FOSS. If you don’t think those things are worth money then you’re free to fork and do it yourself, that’s the beauty of FOSS.

2 reasons imo.

1. Chrome inertia. Everyone who’s locked into it from the days it was legitimately faster.
2. Every time it gets mentioned, its supporters like to “no true Scotsman” the original project and suggest their preferred fork instead.

That’s giving them way too much credit tbh, these guys are too far down (technically “up”) the totem pole. They’ve offloaded their critical thinking and public responsibilities to the first company that said the right keywords. Sounds like you’ve gone down all the paths I can help with lol. Mine streams just fine using Frigate in HAOS and using RTSP. The two way audio doesn’t work quite yet but I also haven’t tried too hard to diagnose since the audio otherwise functions, so I’m assuming it’s just a configuration issue.

I also 3D printed a mount I found on Thingiverse since the ones it came with didn’t angle it far enough for my needs.

I guess I should’ve said “on its own dedicated hardware” too but, still.

I think I remember reading somewhere about a firmware update that was pretty recent (8/2025) specifically for latency issues, you might want to check that out if you’ve had it awhile.

It’s probably just scrolling speed or debounce or something silly like that lol. Like moving from Android to iOS. I’d bet if you used FF for a couple days you wouldn’t even notice it anymore without something to compare it to.

Have you thought about moving your HA off your server and onto a miniPC? I know you weren’t really looking for advice but that seems like the move to me tbh, doesn’t take long to migrate and it might clear up a lot of headaches.

Plex helps you (and others) stream from your library pretty brainlessly. Sure there are other options, but all of them are more complicated.
