Ah- the Fox News approach

Ah- the Fox News approach

It’s exactly what they do. I have a house full of apple devices. There is no way to definitively say “stop” without accepting the prompt. And it has nothing to do with os versions or security updates.
Thanks for your “insight”

Or they’ll just keep bothering the shit out of you until you agree. That’s what “not now” means in the Apple world.

Perhaps you should reread my response more fully.
I don’t really respond to nonsensical commentary. E.g. your claim that suggesting someone may be experiencing depression is “vilifying” them. Or introducing the topic of people procreating after 50. Not what I said at all.

Okay, the first recommendation I have for you is to evaluate yourself (or get evaluated) for signs of depression.
Next, ignoring religion… and factoring in your use of the word “want,” there are only two reasons to exist:
Most creatures live only for the first. Humans have a developed pre-frontal cortex. This means we live “for more.” What that is (following the famous wisdom of Curly from city slickers) is up to you.
So, if you think no one over 50 has anything to offer the next generation (wisdom?) or has the ability to simply enjoy existing, then I have concern for you. If you need someone to explain this, well, I pity you.

Where is the original citation showing you cannot use a tv disconnected, without setting up an account?
This whole thread is nonsense.

Just don’t connect it. If you need to stream, use a device you trust.
If manufacturers start adding cell radios, that’s when we’ll really need to worry.

All of my non-whitelisted email goes into the trash bin. I do peruse it, but mostly for a different use case. If I get subjects that say “critical alert” (etc), and it seems legitimate, then I just go to that service and see if something is actually going on. So basically everything in that box is suspect at best. Next, I tend to leave these emails unproved since there are so many. This way they auto-delete with no extra effort. Ex, I have an app that I see alerts in the app when I want to (on my timeline), but it also sends me emails. No way I can stop that behavior, and I can’t really stop using the app, so I just let them auto-purge without building any special rules.
Now, if I see an email in there, and it correlates with an actual site/app notification, then I have the option to whitelist the source. I really don’t find myself doing that very often.
It’s a pretty low-effort way to distinguish known sources, and to auto purge stuff I don’t want to strictly block.

If you’re not in my whitelist, you don’t get to my inbox.
Simple.

It’s voluntary (for now). Not hard for a phone app to see you’re using the device just before the accelerometer detects a crash.

What’s being heard is […] complaints tying up agents.
So it’s being heard. Great, we agree.

Right. Not heard. That’s why Sony put out this policy, because they can’t hear the complaints.
I’d say the complaints are working as intended.
Btw, I don’t have any sony products, so I can’t “stop” giving them money. But the idea that “stopping” further purchases is adequate remuneration for property theft is laughable.

Well I’m not calling them. But obviously people are being heard. Hence this policy, article, and post.

If that’s the only way to voice one’s opinion and be heard.
Any way, I didn’t see a lot of “screaming” in the policy. It says if you bother us too much, we’ll stop listening.
Which is the actual concern. No one here is saying you should be screaming at people.

Steam machine! $1050
Checkmate.
I actual kinda want one…

I made a lot of money in Apple stock over this event. I bought in after the verbal assault, and sold after the gifting.
So it definitely worked.

But no, regulations are bad right? Corporations will police themselves because bad actions will become unprofitable I thought.
Ohh my head hurts now.

Not the same story, but I followed a related story about another bot crashing a SWAT scene:
Dot is a bit different than most food delivery bots. It’s taller and roomier, and zooms around at a zippy 20 miles per hour, the company claims. That’s because it’s built to travel on roadways and bike lanes, leaving its fellow sidewalk crawlers in the dust.
WTF

They are probably sentient. Now sapience… is another issue altogether.
Ooh, what about one of the supernovas:
SN 1006 (The Brightest)
SN 1054 (The Crab Nebula Creator)
