I worked at a call center for xbox. Yelling definitely worked because we had a protocol to escalate angry customers to tier 2 and they usually get some freebies like a few months of xbox live, some games or a gift card. There was a thin line between yelling/bring angry and being rude. We had the option to disconnect the call of there were personal insults
The people who cared are also a big proportion of people that actually posted and commented there. I kept lurking for a while and the quality of content and discussion declined very quickly. Now there are a lot of bots fighting with other bots on big /r. The only communities that maybe stayed the same are the ones that were very niche to begin with

I like the approach that a city close to me took. Street parking and small lots are kinda expensive and very monitored (red/green/blue lights indicate status of the spots from a distance so police can quickly fine cars)
However there are a few parking garages that are not so expensive and also include 2 or 3 hours free, but you have to walk a little to get to downtown ( about half a mile)
Lots of people that hate walking pay a lot for parking and fines and the rest of us walk a little and get free or very cheap parking
Similar timing, a friend introduced me to Ubuntu around 2005 or 2006 and dualbooted for a while and always had a live USB with me. Tried many distros, I think openSuse was my favorite for a while and then switched to OSX86 until I got a laptop at my job (with windows) and I got a tablet so I stopped having a personal computer until about 5 years ago when I got a very cheap laptop that turned to crap when it “upgraded” to Windows 11 and that’s when I discovered linux
