My experience of a decade in corporate US companies:

Quantity > Quality; no matter what the marketing line says. People who speak a lot in meetings and send a lot of emails are regarded as better at their job, substance is only somewhat relevant. And LLMs are great at producing lots and lots of well sounding slop.

My LG fridge also beeps, as any other fridge would. I guess the added benefit is that it can send a notification to your phone, maybe useful in some scenarios, all it costs is your privacy…

To check on google, since this post was about them. I use mostly noai.duckduckgo.com, I would prefer qwant or ecosia but with my vpn enabled they throw me captchas too frequently.

Why I needed a separate browser to test google slop summary in the first place: uBlockOrigin & uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist takes care of removing that and many other buttons or popups you want to avoid

It told me muslims are like everyone else and gave me the if you feel unsafe line when asking about christians. For jews it generated no slop response at all.

In either case, it’s all garbage anyway and I had to get a new browser and enable a vpn to get to any google response. I recommending blocking it all through pihole and ublock.

You’re right… and I agree with your sentiment in principal.

I’m just a bit frustrated because I’ve been trying to explain to people that online privacy is important and meta, snapchat, google, etc. can’t be trusted for over a decade now. I hope these stories getting out are more successful than me getting that point across.

I see no issue, things worked as advertised. The AI flagged things correctly and since Snapchat never made any promises about encryption it’s on anyone to use it at their own discretion. Maybe more stories like this will help create some awareness about online privacy
