  • Do u think the people used to hitting the power button and clicking the game they want to play on a console are gonna be able to set up Linux and work out the inevitable bugs? I think moving from a console -> windows PC is a good intermediate step before going to Linux, and hell to this day I still use a windows PC because of the programs i need for tuning ecus and designing 3d models (yes I know i can use freecad but also my job has a fusion 360 subscription and thats what we use at work, and no there aren’t any ECU tuning programs worth a shit on Linux that wont brick a 1k$ ecu). Yea windows is enshitified, but I’d argue it’s less enshitified then either console at this point and I’d rather see people move away from consoles to windows than keep buying consoles because they can’t figure out how to get their GPU to work with the distro they chose. I personally have gone through and debloated windows to the point it works great. I understand that same effort could have been spent setting up a good distro, but no distro would run HP tuners or tripnic suite or ecuflash and I WONT risk running in a virtual box or any of that crap for my applications, too much at risk! And don’t worry I didn’t give microslop a dime 🏴‍☠️

  • Tons of cars fet drivetrain swaps! It’s not bad, lots of kits out there and a little custom fab goes a long way. I have personally put hemis and 8hps in JKs, swapped an 02 drivetrain into my 87 YJ, have swapped a gas V8 rover to a diesel td5, have many auto to manual and vice versa conversion. Hell my co worker just put a Corvette engine in a rover backed by a 6 speed tremec and an adapter plate to the original rover t case. It’s surprisingly simple! Hell u can even convert ice to elec pretty easily if u have the where-with-all!

  • Hey buddy I’m just breaking balls on the internet I did not mean to get u so wound up! Yea ur taco can 100p do that mud puddle that’s just an old photo I had handy, I don’t get out and take pics when I’m articulating in a creek bed lmfao. I will say the desert stuff doesn’t impress me, come to the slick, greasy muddy rocky mountain sides and creeks over here and you’ll find the limits of those open diffs quick! I have lifted a handful of tacos and my co worker owns one, they do impress for an IFS rig just like my Xterra on 32s got me places i didn’t think it could, but neither are going to articulate like a solid axle rig there’s no arguing that. Now if you SAS that taco well really be talking 😏 what mods u got to make the taco a wheeler? What gen?

  • Yea the down vote bombing with no counter points is pretty telling. The regulations are what they are, and since nobody here has a logical counterpoint they all resort to downvotes or a strawman. It is what it is, I have found the average Lemmy user may be technologically inclined but certainly not mechanically. I’ve been in the auto industry for over a decade and will get downvoted or told I’m wrong by people that don’t know what end of the screw driver to hold 😂 keep sharing knowledge despite the echo chsmber down votes its in everybodies best interest!
