I’ve turned down few job offers in my time because those would have me work on online gambling systems and shit.

I know people who still chose to work in there, whose motivation was something like “If I didn’t scam these people - someone else would have”. And what I think after all that - if person’s job is detrimental to society - this person doesn’t matter, even if they’re working hard, 9-to-5, all that shit.

Some artistic works age badly and I think it’s okay. It becomes a problem if artist themselves is aging badly and doubling down on things that could definitely be better about their works.

“Proxy war” take is literally just Russian propaganda meant to deprive Ukraine of agency in eyes of whoever that bullshit is targeted at.

It’s never Ukraine that fights back, it’s ye fiendish Anglo-Saxons, Americans, CIA, NATO mercenaries or whatever, especially with most successful operations like Moskva sinking and “Spiderweb”.

And that is just natural continuation of Russian attitudes since early 90’s, with first Yeltsin blabbing “they will all come crawling back”, while negotiating Russian military presence in Crimea, and then putin lamenting loss of Ukraine and Kazakhstan in early 2000’s. For Russians it’s simply inconceivable that colony would just break away given the chance, it must be someone else pulling the strings.

To be fair, they insisted that they were on good speaking terms. Seen from that one occasion where some article claimed that Linux was copied from MINIX and Tanenbaum dissed the article, defending Torvalds.

If you’re asking seriously - then it’s because you’ll stink up the microwave itself, the kitchen and maybe even more.

Fish specifically contains fats and oils that are going to be boiled from microwaving and sprayed into the environment as result, making everyone’s day much worse.

Eh, my local brewery celebrated 310 years last year and is still doing fine. So there are some issues other than age. 🗿

My biggest motivation to work is pure spite. Especially as an engineer. If I’m told my idea for something is shit without sufficient explanation - I’ll be secretly working on that to either discover myself why it’s shit or come back at ya with “SEE?!”.

I think there will be some inventions in regard of “take home projects” like certification of said tasks, secure repositories - things that let you easily check if whatever you just got is legit, or maybe in-browser environments for doing tasks, where it’s all handled on employers servers. Just takes someone to formulate an idea that could be sold and rest is details.

And as of resumes, phone interviews and in-person interviews - kinda happened already, at least speaking from my engineer’s perspective. Today just hiring someone without in-person interview is a bit foolish due to how easy it is to just open ChatGPT tab or whatever on another screen. And potential engineers then are invited to an in-person interview and fail it miserably after giving somewhat competent answers in online call.

Damn, I thought LinkedIn itself got hacked, but that’s just “recruiter” trying to get people to install malicious npm modules. 🥱

Good heads up tho, I periodically get folks trying some bullshit with me in there like “let’s talk on WhatsApp”.

Now think of some folks actually being quite successful by selling courses and trainings where they just talk nonsense in bureaucratese to the audience. 💀

Jokes aside tho, it’s mandatory at my job to take a vacation for at least two weeks at least once a year, and managers can get in trouble if someone doesn’t take a vacation in a long time.

There was that thing with memes that if corporate social media people posted some meme - that would be akin to that specific meme’s death certificate. Like, people had fun with something, and now there’s corporations trying to buddy up, and it’s no fun anymore.

So… kinda the same thing with celebrity endorsements. Immediately makes things feel 10x less genuine.

I feel like AI employed to audit the company and look for ways to increase efficiency can certainly get funny ideas about guys who get seven figure paychecks for showing PowerPoints once in a while. 🌝

They have this quasi-religious cult vibe that makes them like this:

1. Sacred texts that give answers to everything.
2. Saints and prophets. I mean - they mostly identify themselves by someone else’s name - e.g. stalinists, trotskyists, maoists etc.
3. Aggression to outsiders. Building a good sect requires that, it’s how you keep folks inside - just make them hate the outside.

That’s not a scientific conclusion on my part, rather vibe-based one, and some conspiracy theory communities can also be described in that way. Which also leads to next conclusion - they’re kept in by a sense of community, and since that community is built around fringe and often cringe ideas - it only leads to doubling down on ideas that seem stupid or dangerous or simply not thought through to any sensible person.
