I’ve unironically untangled my thought process sometimes in the midst of trying to write a useful prompt (something more explicit than “it no worky”). The text box is more helpful than the model like 50% of the time.

1·5 days agoI learned about the existence of Ubuntu from a computer magazine and tried out the live USB soon after. It took me many years of sporadic trial and error, but then the Wayland session started becoming really good on NVIDIA GPUs, games started having less issues (and I got it though my head that NTFS causes tons of problems), and I eventually learnt enough, that I stopped missing Windows. I kept an install around for racing sims and just-in-case for years, but I got Assetto Corsa working more or less reliably and it became redundant. I deleted my Windows partition a couple of weeks ago.
I learnt from trial and error, a few videos, a few articles, and the Arch Wiki. A friend is hounding me to try NixOS, and I want to get familiar with Fedora to convert a few relatives, but right now it’s looking like Arch 4ever for me.
I feel like I’m going crazy looking at the website… The UI looks super familiar, but I can’t recall having ever used it. Is it Ardour? Bitwig? Bandlab???
I’ve been playing for 13 years and I’m still not good. Embrace the suck
Micro also has syntax highlighting, multiple buffers with split editors, and theming, among other things. It’s pretty dang neat

Most international market phones are supposed to do GLONASS just fine though? How does that work?

1·3 months agoThe joke is a cross between a famous anecdote about Diogenes and the inner workings of vision-capable AI models.
Diogenes really liked to disrespect his social superiors, so when, in a lecture, Plato defined human beings as “featherless bipeds”, Diogenes plucked a chicken and presented it to him saying “Behold - Plato’s human being” (or something along those lines, the quote is slightly different in every source).
In order to “see” things from images and video, a garden variety LLM needs to integrate with another model that analyzes the picture it is given and gives a text description (source: HuggingFace). What I’m getting at is that, based on that idea of stripping things of context, ChatGPT could probably confidently tell you something in the vein of Plato taking the piss due to its inherently limited ability to see.

a wonderful picture? u mean a list of colors and a columns count?
Isn’t that all digital photography anyway?
The best part is that I’ve actually gotten some answers from my subconscious this way
Yes, and how do you get to LineageOS? Bootloader unlock (a complete pain on most brands, if even possible).
Then there’s the whole Play Integrity thing messing with your mobile payments, biometrics in certain apps, or complete refusal to work (funniest/most stupid example being the McDonalds app).
Then there’s the whole thing of being unable to relock your bootloader for added security because damn near no one supports Android Verified Boot. Relocking means bricking the device.
I should make a bigger effort to write down the things I’d miss from Android if I left…
I do love my ROMs though. Lineage can be a bit lacking in features and customization for my liking. My favorites are EvoX and crDroid, they’re good at basically everything for a “heavy” ROM. PixelExperience was the bomb while it was going. RIP 🫡
I’ve been keeping my most recent phone (my first flagship) stock for peace of mind, but the siren song of real customization and AOSP is calling me…
