Replying to myself 7 months later.

I’m no longer using CachyOS due to systemd, and the potential that they would end up doing digital ID. Instead, I switched to Artix (and so had my producer) with OpenRC as the init system. The two of us made this decision based upon wanting to control our machines, and not letting IBM do that (through Wayland, systemd, and other things they want to shove down our throats unwillingly).

I’m not really knowledgeable about Liberated systemd at all. I don’t know of that’s possible, but since this is the same systemd without the field (that field being used in preparation for digital ID), it’s safe to assume that could be odd.

I’d make a backup if this were to be done, and have a Mint live environment in case something’s messed up.

Quite a few somebodies happened to hate me. That’s because I’m a non-conformist to astroturfed and mainstream political ideologies, which are tied to a specific religious building. Uniformity is also tied to said building as well.

An entire admin team hates me because I pointed out a scientific, religious, and systemic issue of which I sent proof to one of them for.

My thoughts exactly. That’s why I love using XLibre (X11 fork) and Libre-WD-40 (Git without Rust). They’re fantastic for my needs, but maybe not yours.

IBM does, indeed, own RedHat.

That isn’t a Linux thing. Rather, it’s IBM trying to control Linux through Wayland and systemd, since they’ve been linked for some time now.

That’s why I’m all-in for the fragmentation that deviates from corporate norms.

Yes, I know of Void. However, despite running with runit right now, the Vendefoul Wolf Twitter account had basically talked about how systemd is being a dependency for Wayland, despite it not being a hard one right now. Some features of Wayland, from what I understand of it (I’ll need to do some more research on it) will require systemd as a hard dependency in the future.

Well… anything with Ubuntu backing it is going to do digital ID. Probably your best bet would be Vendefoul Wolf with SonicDE or similar for Plasma, but without Wayland, as Wayland will likely require systemd in the future, and that means you’ll be doing digital ID through the field used for this purpose (if a distro decides to implement this feature, that is).

At this point, I’d just ditch everyday Wayland, and use it for specific purposes should that be needed.

Zorin is a solid choice. Ubuntu-based without digital ID, Irish-made (not subject to the American digital ID laws), and designed with digital freedom in mind, despite snap format being enabled by default.

They’ve already been patching those before X.Org got those updates. I use XLibre myself, so I’d know about it anyway.

You can still turn it off regardless. I checked the site after writing my last comment on this.

I honestly don’t mind AI, as long as it’s local.

I wonder if Dubois has a way this can be turned off, or he can make it opt-in for those who hate it.

A good FPS that’s indie (though it’s actually AA) is a game called Operation Harsh Doorstop. I hadn’t played it in a while, but from what I know, it’s a fantastic Battlefield-like, with some inspiration from the H2M project as well.

It’s made in Unreal Engine, which was on UE4 at the time. I think they use UE5, and likely optimize the game themselves.

I proved to not be one of those types. While I do see the new field as a Trojan for digital ID, it is an optional field for now, though it may end up being baked in sometime in the future.

That’s just how I see it, though. At this point, just don’t comply with digital ID in the first place.

While yes, it is optional, this is to comply with governments around the world with what will be digital ID.

That’s what the people who were outraged were calling out about systemd’s new field.

Any Arch-based distribution gives you a ton of control to do whatever you want with it as long as you know what you’re doing. Having used Linux myself for 5 years, nothing beats Arch-based for me. Sure, I started with Manjaro (a big mistake for a beginner in my opinion), though I used around four or five distros (including the now defunct Arco Linux while editing for CoculesNation on YouTube), and stuck to CachyOS (same with my producer, actually).
