Some MS office products are wedged deeply into companies’ workflow, and that software lock-in supports Windows software lock-in. Maybe it doesn’t fix the deeper problem, but a compatibility tool developer won’t fix that anyway. That comes from people updating business processes per company.

If it helps more people get off of Windows, it goes about as far as a global patch can to help solve part of the problem.

You should always be a bit skeptical, sometimes really arcane subjects’ articles are written by one of the handful of people who understand them, sometimes they’re very subtly wrong but not prominent enough to get the right attention. If something seems off, Wikipedia has tools like the Talk page, and looking at Edit history, that can allow you to glean information in-platform about what might be happening. Edit wars, vandalism, disagreements among editors, maybe a negotiated agreement about a way to represent something controversial, all can become clearer by looking at those resources. You can also check its sources, to see if they agree with what felt off to you, or if there isn’t a good source on that claim.

It’s not perfect, any system can fail, but at least it has reasonable tools to figure out why it says what it says, and dig further.

Every day they put their list of features into copilot and let it set the new name for the product, whatever it says goes. This could be an improvement over their current strategy

Don’t let LLMs take your em dashes; flattening your language to the lowest common denominator to avoid doing anything too distinctive less you be accused of non-authorship… that’s a real harm to you and your reader. If you know how to use them, and enjoy using them, use them fearlessly.
