This was my pandemic game. I remember paying online with my coworkers as it was one of the only things for us to do. I miss those times.
I’ll have to give it another go. I always lose interest past the Black Forest for whatever reason. I think it’s because I don’t enjoy the swamp as a biome. For casuals like me, or people who don’t want to grind as much, I recommend playing in semi-creative mode: turn on unlimited ressources when building the base, turn it off when exploring. The grind to gather wood and iron gets boring real quick.
Ashlands are hard. I never managed to get the full set of melee armor from there or finish off the boss. I’ll have to try again.
I have a steam deck plugged in to the TV. I might just use that. The Steam controller is good enough to use as a remote. I might run into the 720p limitation though. I remember hearing Netflix not supporting higher res on browser anymore
For people like me who don’t want to sail the high seas, how do you watch Netflix, Paramount and other subscription services with Kodi? Isn’t it just easier to use a browser at this point?

Dull but extremely profitable and successful as a company. Maybe their products are boring and there were a few flops along the way (HomePod, Vision Pro) but the transition to the M chips seems to have been successful and iPhone is still 21% of market share of the smart phone market.

Product idea: personal mainframe.
Imagine a desktop small enough to fit in a backpack. It has a battery, a cell connection with data, decent GPU ram etc. Your phone is now just a display and a battery. Your laptop is the same but a bit bigger and with a keyboard.
Each electronic device you own is now just a terminal used to access your mainframe. You can take your mainframe with you or leave it at home. It’s yours. You don’t rent compute from someone else.
Would be amazing to have truly thin and very portable devices.
It’s kinda what I’m getting at. To me it feels like the debate is really centered around the CD, the physical media. I wish it was more focused on the DRM side and the licensing. Sony doesn’t want you to own. Their method is the DRM and their new enforcement mechanism is to force the DRM through a digital only store.
Instead of pushing back in the digital aspect I wish we were pushing back more on the DRM aspect. I wish there was a way to resell a digital copy on a digital second hand market.
However, following this perspective the big casualty will be brick and mortar game stores. They need physical media to get people in the store to buy merch and other trinkets. I don’t really know what to think about that. I’m not super attached to those physical stores to start with.
