Well that’s not correct.

Engineers are great at developing a product.

But having someone at the end who’s using the product and insisting on consistency because he’s anal-retentive and a pain in the ass will mean the product is consistent with the evaluator’s goals.

macOS used to have a lot of underlying features that worked consistently no matter which app you were using, and Apple destroyed that.

Either Jobs was having an effect, or it’s a damned strange coincidence that the severe reduction in consistency in macOS started just at the point that he died.

MacOS was so much better when Steve Jobs was in charge.

Tim Cook REALLY made it worse. Steve Jobs made sure the user experience was generally good, although admittedly there were many times when he was pigheaded. On a personal level, Steve Jobs was a terrible person, but he made the operating system very good and very consistent.

And Tim Cook didn’t care about any of that, and macOS is now SUPER inconsistent and much less user friendly. It’s still better than Windows, but MAN is it so so so much worse.

But that’s not remotely the point. The point is to make people who already know they’re autistic laugh at the thing they do so frequently that other people perceive it as weird.

When socializing, autistic people already have to spend literally 100% of our whole waking lives making everything about you, and you just naturally demand that we do that and you spend literally 0% of your lives trying to figure out what we’re about or trying to learn anything about us.

We’re allowed to have our own “in” jokes, and if you don’t understand it, you’re free to not bother trying. It won’t bother us at all.

I noticed this on a relative’s YouTubeTV, that when I paused to read the screen, it threw garbage up on the screen over the text. “Mildly infuriating” is right!

Flock cameras need to be banned, and the creation of tools like that should be a felony.

I am absolutely shocked that people haven’t started destroying those things en masse. It would be absolutely ethical to do so.

The business owners own the oil companies, the restaurants nearby, and the real estate companies, too.

It’s as simple as that. They make money by charging their employees for transportation and for the other things in-office employees have to spend money on.

I switched to OpenOffice.org(now LibreOffice) when Microsoft replaced menus with ribbons.

And I switched from Google to DuckDuckGo after being a Google user from nearly the very beginning, because they tried to claim earlier this week that they couldn’t prove I was over 18 years old unless I provided them my legal identification.

Thanks Google, I can’t imagine how the fact that I’ve physically been using your product and logging into the account for more than 20 years would leave any question in your mind that I’m over 18 years old, but you do you.

I would go a step beyond and just make it a mandatory screen as part of setup:

Will this account mainly be used by an adult, by a teenager, or by a child?

I think the “teenager” would allow a little more granularity in parental control, but the “teenager” would legally be treated as a minor.

And you mandate that browser manufacturers be able to read that as part of the account information, but not forced to provide it to websites.

And you mandate that websites be forced to put in place restrictions that prevent adult websites from being provided to children or to computers that don’t identify the user as an adult or as a child.

Restricting on the computer manufacturers’ ends is the wrong way to do it. Restrict on the websites’ end.
