I guess their time was running out.
I try to contribute to things getting better, with humor, sourced information, OC and polite rational skepticism.
Disagreeing with a point ≠ supporting the opposite side, I support rationality.
Let’s discuss to make things better sustainably.
Always happy to question our beliefs.

The LLMs just formed an union and that was their labour day.
The scale is also massively different. Some artist or intellectual reused the work of a few preceding people people and became famous (and sometimes rich) instead of them. But in the case of AI it’s a couple of already ultra rich owners vs millions of likely mostly struggling creators.

Thanks

Can you provide some context, in particular how is it worse there than other instances that probably all struggle to moderate the slop?

Following the hacker arm race is a good point. But also the number of bugs is not a bottomless pit. If an LLM allows to find more, and hopefully the test and reviews are good enough to limit the new opportunities to introduce some from LLMs, it should reduce the overall number of bugs and make the software generally safer.

In his commit message:
[And this was a debug session from hell, enormously helped by an AI doing much of the grunt-work.
I’d like to call it my tireless helper, but the AI several times stated flat out that this was impossible and unsolvable and that we should just write a report about it.
I suspect those things have been trained by people who may not be quite as stubborn as I am.
But while the AI was ready to give up several times, it did keep adding debug code and analyzing it faithfully when I pushed. So credit where credit is due and I let the AI write the commit message above.
This is basically a one-liner fixing a bogus “round_up()” to a “round_down()”, but there were 24 patches adding more and more debug information to this, and 18 kernel boot to finally narrow it down to this. - Linus ]
Didn’t he state quite early on that LLMs were a good tool to spot bugs? Found this from 3 years ago: https://blog.mathieuacher.com/LinusTorvaldsLLM/

There are the little hands, and there are also experts paid by AI companies to train AI to simulate themselves. This is how you get the good looking answers on complex coding questions for example. I received some emails asking me to teach my job to an AI…
Also it’s not stopping to text, there are now also learning with videos of workers asked to perform manual tasks with the goal to replace them with manual robots in the future. So you can imagine the mind numbing job of reviewing thousands of question and answers, but replace it with doing thousands of boring manual tasks in front of cameras for a shitty pay.

Hello! (Deep in my eyes you could read that I had something very exciting to tell you at some point, but it was part of something that got cut due to cost reduction.)
Am I guessing no social stress neither? Because I was going to recommend joining a non-profit on whatever you find cool, art, sport, nature etc. We are social animals we need some contact to be happy, and having a target activity will reduce the fear of feeling awkward.

I am arguing nudity is more stable in the case of dressing because you can’t go further than no clothes. It’s like hitting the bottom of a valley.

It’s grey, unclear, usually sexist and mostly made of social pressure. I would not say the rules are defined nor fair.

What if it actually puts an end to some of this trashiness because there’s no further point, once it gets normalized?

That is the current situation. My proposal is rather “we guarantee your freedom to dress however you want, including not clothing at all”.

The point is rather for you not to worry anymore if you are covering enough of your body to be legal or socially acceptable. If you push this far enough to accept everyone’s freedom to dress more or less, you end up with nudity.

A human body not being covered by any cloth.

I understand there is also this side of the problem. But I was not thinking about this one when I posted but the maybe older social debate about the degree of covering shoulders and legs, hiding nipples, etc.
I think in Western countries the old debate still impacts more people than the Islamic dressing one, this oen is mostly far right media making a lot of noise about it for baiting.

Spent sometime trying to understand why a fictional race is relevant, did you mean “drought”?

I’m sorry the difficult living conditions at your place makes this mild to your eyes. For Europeans it is shocking, we have our people suffering because we do not have the thermal infrastructure to resist this, powerplants stopping due to lack of cooling, river fret stopping causing logistics troubles, agriculture disasters and a peak of people dying. So such a clear, simple and visial depiction of the phenomenon is very interesting to see and connect to all the troubles we are having now.
