Man a cleaning robot would be kinda neat, but realistically it would have too much potential to make a huge fucking mess. Like, a roomba that drives over dog poop can only mess up in a single dimension but a full-ass robot?! Just imagine the mess it would make literally every time it takes out the trash. Or if it mistakes a flower pot full of dirt for a dish that needs to go in the dishwasher.

Yeah, even I’ll pass on that one.
scream in happiness maybe. No more taxes to pay, no more emails to read.
I actually keep coming back to Sony earbuds, because they seem to be the only brand that still makes the earbuds controlled by buttons instead of capacitive touch. Had the Sony WF-C500 for a couple years and they still work perfectly fine, but I recently bought a pair of WF-C510 because I wanted multi-connection Bluetooth (so that I can use my PC, tablet and phone audio without fiddling around and re-pairing all the time). They were like 35 bucks.
I’m a React developer too and I went tf off on the project manager who suggested we replace the company’s perfectly fine Wordpress homepage with a self-built page running on React. Actually, never ever use React for anything that matters. It’s exclusively suited for making janky browser games and B2B applications.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Me attending "AI University" at work today
7·22 days agoUgh, my work mandated doing an “AI training” course too that everyone needs to do until October 31st. Luckily I’m leaving the company at the end of September so I can just ignore the deadline.
I like Gnome because it doesn’t have a Desktop that I can crowd with Icons and random files. The few times I tried KDE I just didn’t really jive with it because the text and icons were super small by default and the whole handling was just…idk, too click-y? Yeah, it can all be adjusted and stuff, but default Gnome is just closer to my preferences than default KDE.
AI peaked with Akinator. Anything after that was a waste of time.
I haven’t withdrawn physical money from my bank account in years. So any cash in my household is from like, birthday gifts and the like, making it basically free haha

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•6 Months Gone, Nothing to Show For It........
2·2 months agoI handed in my 3-month notice recently and have to take the rest of my vacation days and overtime before October. That amounts to about a month, although I’m not taking all of it in one piece.
I have booked a 5-day beginner course to learn Windsurfing for the end of the month, plus I warned my boss that for the month of August, I’ll be taking days off whenever the waves look good. That’s my dedicated “touch grass” hobby for this time period.
Other than that… I have a lot of programming stuff I want to learn, but only because I already program a lot. Zig and htmx are at the top of the list right now, but if I find the motivation I’ll be dabbling in Django and Angular as well (need them for my next job).
Otherwise, I’m not stressing about being productive or acquiring any “useful” skills. That kind of “constant self-improvement” mindset just doesn’t mix well with my existing burnout. Just surviving is a good enough goal imo

I wouldn’t be quite so pessimistic! Many places, especially in Europe, have been making massive breakthroughs in consumer rights to repair and data privacy laws. If we keep big companies in check and pressure the government for further progress in those sectors, it might be possible for us to just kill rich people and take their robots without the robots tattling 💕
