I thought I read years ago that airlines responded to Skiplagged by penalizing people who didn’t complete every leg of the trip they booked. I’m not sure why they would care.

I love this movie. The premise is so silly, but the pacing is perfect and we get some surprisingly great performances. It’s also full of all the mid-2000s tech and military tropes. So much fun.

I think a lot of the Malört hate is hype. People love talking about how disgusting it is, and that’s just become the thing to do when anyone mentions it. The first time I tried it I thought, “I can understand why people don’t like it, but it’s just an herbal spirit like many others.” I tried it a second time years later and said, “Ah, okay. This really is disgusting.”

My wife has big boobs. Sometimes she shows them off on purpose, but even when she doesn’t, they’re big and round and nice to look at. She says if people are going to look, at least be inconspicuous about it and not stare.

That said, I know other women who have felt cursed by their big boobs because everywhere they go, they’re ogled without their consent. Which is also fair. Just because some women are okay with it, doesn’t mean I’m entitled to check everyone out.

Doug Rushkoff’s Survival of the Richest paints a really fascinating picture of the tech billionaire mindset. Rushkoff has been writing about tech for like 50 years so he’s able to explain the evolution from creative tech anarchist to fascist sociopath. “They seem to think they can design a car fast enough to outrun its own exhaust.”

I’m a social worker. I had a tough time in grad school at the peak of the Me Too movement and Trump’s first term. My cohort was maybe 5% men. I sometimes felt like the target of the anger and resentment my classmates felt towards men in general. I worked hard to listen and not be defensive, but it was difficult.

I’ve experienced a little bit of that since graduating, but it was specific to a toxic workplace. These days I’m just so grateful to be surrounded by brilliant women. I learn so much and I never feel out of place.

Didn’t they already do that like 10 years ago? In the US they didn’t do a recall per se but they offered to replace them for free.

Sorry, it’s the same as you’re describing. The employer doesn’t decide which funds are available, the bank does. I’m thinking back to my last job and there were only about 10 funds to choose from, but I couldn’t tell you who was responsible for limiting the options. The bank might have offered a “retirement benefits package” to the employer to simplify things. Not sure.

Many employers offer to match the employee’s contribution to their retirement fund up to a certain amount, but the employer gets to pick which funds are available. Anyone can open their own IRA (retirement fund) but they won’t get that employer match.

Also, NASDAQ will be changing its rules to list SpaceX as soon as 15 days after IPO.

If you like geometry and trig, the apps Pythagorea and Euclidea are very fun puzzles. They’re free and there are hundreds of puzzles. They get very difficult.

I wouldn’t go that far. As OP said, some groups are certainly like that, but I’ve been to a couple that are actively and explicitly secular. Every group is different.

I got a TCL last year and it wouldn’t let me use the TV until I set up the internet. After 4 factory resets I figured out how to put it in store demo mode, and plugged in a separate streaming device that connects to the internet. Now I realize I could have connected the TV to the internet and then blocked it at the network level.
