If this wasn’t enough, there’s even more among the silver members, such as OpenAI and NVidia.
What’s the problem? All those companies have a vested interest in not letting any of those other companies from poison-pilling the kernel. I hate corporations, but they’re also the ones with the money to invest in Linux instead of Microsoft Server subscriptions.
Am I missing something?
- People are irrational. This is especially true to tech bros.
- Techbros are usually true believers.
- They need a sales pitch. What is better than putting AI slop code into a kernel trusted by billions of people?
Re: 3: because most of those companies probably rely on Linux for their operations, while a few like Microsoft and Samsung, do have some serious conflicts of interest.
Your point would stand if any of those companies had recently shown a shred of evidence that they’re capable of planning further into the future than next quarter. :(
