I don’t agree, but I notice a lot of people actually do fantazise being an aristocrat. The goal is to retire and be served by others now. The fact that slavery and brutal autocracies force millions to labor for the first world is seen as abstract but the primary issue most people have in the first world is that we don’t get enough of the share of loot from these brutal systems. Its the same reason “white privilege” is seen as so ridiculous to some. People are working hard, and life is tough, so the idea that they got more they deserved too is an affront to the narrative we hold for ourselves.
