Oh man. Streetlight strikes some emotional chords that nobody else can reach for me. Somewhere in the Between is my personal favorite album, but Everything Goes Numb is also 100% amazing songs. Plus, I swear that every time I’ve seen them live I walk out thinking “that might have been the best fucking show I’ve ever been to.”

There’s no bad onramp to that world. Very few of the books require you to have read the others, and there isn’t much of a strict chronology. Apparently Pratchett recommended that people start with Sourcery, but that’s not set in stone.

Toaster oven is the fucking way to go. I’ve got one with a 12x12x8 capacity and 4 cook modes. I can cook so many meals, and reheating leftovers is super easy. I didn’t have a microwave for almost a decade and I barely even noticed.

Hell, I’m more worried about the US /not/ breaking up. The whole country just lies down and accepts the decline into authoritarianism.
Online sales can be brutal, just a warning. Amazon and the like have set a precedent that no local, independent seller can fulfill. Everyone wants free freight, and they expect their product in a day or two. They don’t understand that not only does Amazon have its own national distribution network with centers everywhere, but Amazon doesn’t make money on physical products that they sell. Selling shit online is a loss leader for Amazon. Small businesses can’t eat the cost of that.
My company got an online order from someone 3000+ miles away on a Monday, to ship FedEx ground. She called us on Tuesday angry that she hasn’t gotten it yet.
Our location is in the name of our company. It should be very clear that it will take more than a day to go that distance. You would think so, at least. She ended up canceling the order and we had to put everything away. Wasted easily an hour of company time for absolutely nothing.
Three times now I’ve been in Germany heading towards France. On every stop along the way people got more more rude. Anecdotal, I know, but god dammit.

Refused is a Swedish thrash punk band. They made a couple EPs and albums, then put out their magnum opus, The Shape of Punk to Come, and then immediately broke up. They did get back together a couple years ago, though.
Propagandhi is a Canadian post punk band. They’ve had a dozen different styles over the years, and nobody can agree on which they did best. Personality I like their heavy Thrash album best, Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes.
As much as I hate my country’s devolution into fascism, I love that Murphys are having a resurgence.
