In the fediverse since 2017. I mostly talk sports. If something on the internet doesn’t spark joy, mute it.
Do not yell at me simply because I am in front of you and the people responsible for the problems are not. It is extremely unpleasant.

I was more on the “if they’re serving me roast chicken after I told them I’m vegetarian, I’m not going to be their guest anymore” side of things, but everyone in my life was very accommodating, so that’s easy for me to say.

I did a few years as a lacto-ovo vegetarian, but I also had a carve-out for eating anything I was served as a guest. I would tell people ahead of time, but if they added bacon to the potato salad, I’d just eat it anyway because being a good guest seemed more important than strict adherence.

I’ll take a slice of apple, then.
I love a soccer sticker. I see a GKS Katowice sticker from Poland, a Farencvaros sticker from Hungary, and I’m guessing given the FC Porto sticker, the Porto Casuals are an SG, which is hilarious. I can’t quite id the one directly under the Porto sticker – it looks like it says Futebol Clube de Celtic, but that’s definitely the wrong crest and the wrong language, so maybe some Brazilian club I don’t recognize? There’s also a half sticker with a soccer ball visible that I can’t make heads or tails of but I bet was cool when it was whole.

This is the same argument as why you shouldn’t use an LLM to do your homework. The goal of doing the problems isn’t to solve the problems (we can see they are already solved, the universe exists and calculates all kinds of exotic math all the time), it is for humans to understand the math
In recent months, the success of AI in solving major mathematical problems has made headlines even outside mathematical circles. But solving problems is only a tool and proxy for achieving the primary goal of conceptual understanding and insight. Forgetting this in the world of AI may turn the tool against the primary goal. Indeed, the mass production at faster and faster pace of “true/false” statements could destroy fertile ground instead of breathing life into new ideas.

Russian is more productive than English, so there’s a bunch of “we just smushed a bunch of prefixes and suffixes on it” words that don’t have a great English equivalent, like недоперепить – to drink quite a lot but not succeed at drinking too much. I don’t think we properly have листопад which is the equivalent of “snowfall” but for autumn leaves. I really miss успевать – to successfully have enough time to do something. There’s also кипяток – water that has been boiled but then slightly cooled, like 200-205 degrees F. The canonical examples are тоска , which is a kind of melancholy longing, and авось which expresses optimism but I basically never heard anyone actually say.

Can I choose the moon landing, but from the moon?
Are you overwhelmed? Or are you properly whelmed by things that are overhappening?

That is one way that mania can manifest, but there are many ways bipolar folks experience mania, some of which are considerably darker. Even the most euphoric mania should be corralled because it will turn to anger and irritability as the episode takes its inevitable turn to depression.

Yes but how do we model the complex interaction between furries and monster fuckers in this 12D space? I think we’re gonna need more dimensions.
(on a more serious note the gender unicorn is cute and fun and I love it)

Your petition to introduce omnisexual has been approved by the royal academy for the english language

I look forward to your upcoming paper modeling human sexuality as an n-dimensional vector in the conceptual gender space

sounds boring tbh
