Pretty sure most of the other recent ones were AI too, but these checked all the meme boxes. I think I got them all censored well enough not to dox us instantly.

I especially like that several of them mixed up the middle school’s mascot with the high school across the street.
Is this a popular slop style where you live? I see the stupid ghibli filter all the time here.

I got this from a community centre for some camping event my kids definitely won’t be attending.
Id pull my kid out of that school.
I’m in the camp where I’m not gonna instantly shit on this, since whoever is making the PTA flyers is probably a volunteer and will use whatever tools at their disposal to get the job done quickly…
I especially like that several of them mixed up the middle school’s mascot with the high school across the street.
… But that’s no excuse to make an obvious mistake like that. And the fact that AI means these are so easy to make should also mean they are easy to re-make so they are correct.
If I wanted to make flyers that instantly make people cringe, I’d just do the ol’ Word Art and color gradients.
Someday there may be skilled cohorts of prompt engineers who can make generative AI sing in a way that is, if not art, then impressive in its own way, and the ones who are in demand will likely put in thousands of hours of effort at learning and refining the systems they manipulate.
This is not that. 🤣
Poor Amanda got shafted on this one.
Four tickets to…
NOTHING!!!
Amanda got four tickets to the local water park. She’s good.
I assume. I don’t know her life.
that main one’s really a “graphic design is my passion” I have no idea where you’re even supposed to look first because its so busy
I love when I get 4 tickets to
That’s not the slop part, OP censored it to avoid doxing. Likely a local business that would give away the location.
If these posters were published online, many reverse image search tools would effectively be able to provide their location anyway. Good on OP for blocking one avenue, but there are others.
I have honestly been online long enough and carry myself such that it’s probably completely possible to dig and find me individually. I just didn’t want it to be able to be done without any effort, or accidentally by the well-meaning goofballs who think that this is making the flyers seem special.
Honestly, I just did a reverse image search and the sheer depressing popularity of this “style” is providing a certain security through obscurity.
True. But it slightly increases the needed effort.
I went in for just that part but end up watching the whole video.
That was a great watch
Having scrolled linked in more than usual this week, it may have primed me for this post.
I got almost exact clones of these my from kid’s school this week. Whole school of talented people and they’re resorting to slop.
All AI posters have that same sloppy, busy style that makes my eyes look past them and move on.
If they’re trying to get people’s attention, they need to know that AI banners and posters have a 40% loss in engagement compared to poorly designed, but human made posters.Yes. It’s not the end of the world (or is it?!?!?!), it’s just such an assault on the senses that I check out. I didn’t win anything, but I wouldn’t have known until I started redacting surnames. It’s like middle aged celebrities who get too much cosmetic work done that I now assume they’re even older than they are.
What exactly is infuriating about this?
Would you rather have just got a text based email?
A PowerPoint screenshot?
They were never going to spend any design time or resources on this kind of thing if AI want available.
Would you rather have just got a text based email?
Yes.
A PowerPoint screenshot?
Also Yes, though the email would have better.
I know we tend to go hard here in the Fediverse, but an exhausting chain of eye-assaulting slop from the adults who are influencing my kid’s education is exactly where my personal line for “mildly” infuriating is.
Text based emails are where it’s at! Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words… this is an instance that did not need that many words.
