Just got this in the parent app, Ive truly become unhinged in that I responded immediately to the post: Ai really? Slop.

I cant take it anymore. A lady at the checkout of my dr appointment yesterday had a large poster, ehem, large ai poster of herself as a queen with text on it like “phone queen” and it was so hard to stand there and not say anything.

Imma get introuble at my son’s school this year, I can tell. Fuck Camino Alto, Fuck ai.

Fact is people pay more attention when it looks nice and they probably don’t have a budget and time for a graphic designer.

People are getting mad just to get mad. Nobody is going to read a word doc poster and it literally takes longer to make, it’s just how it is.

This has the opposite effect in my opinion.

I get that as a tool, AI isn’t worse than somebody using WordArt and comic sans for everything. However the result is actually worse.

It doesn’t look nice. It looks soo generic that it sends the message that nobody spend a second giving a flying fuck about what it looked like. They might as well have typed it on a blank page using Times New Roman.

I’m not going to spend my time even looking at it or let alone read it to get any info from it, because I can tell from a glance they didn’t care about putting it there in the first place.

I stop listening to the radio or walk away from the TV when the commercial break starts. I put my phone away when it plays unskippable ads. This flyer has the same effect on me as a billboard at the busstop that I also don’t look at.

So it could be argued that maybe I’m just not the target demographic for this flyer. But I am. And this flyer is not advertising. Yet it’s presented in the way a computer has decided would be appealing to humans or some shit. And it just fails completely, while also screwing up the purpose of communication.

Word doc posters existed and were perfectly acceptable ways to advertise something for decades, I don’t think suddenly over 18 months people are now incapable of parsing them.

        bring back the glorious wordart!

besides that, the print shop software has been around since 1984. yea, it still exists! print master and print artist, too (from 1985 and 1992, respectively).

Canva makes so easy to just get a template, modify it slightly in ~15-30 minutes and have something looking good enough, no need for a graphic designer

A flyer’s job is to communicate concisely and unambiguously. These Ai bullshits op has been sharing, they are not concise. They aren’t just bad because llms made them, the llms made poor design choices. Then they slopped ugly images all over the paper
